EC submits list of newly elected MPs to President

New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): The Election Commission on Sunday submitted the list of newly elected members of the 16th Lok Sabha to President Pranab Mukherjee. A three-member EC team headed by Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath handed over the list containing the names of all 543 Members of Parliament to the President. Talking to the mediapersons, Sampath said that President congratulated the poll panel and voters of the country who made the democratic exercise meaningful and said that it was one of the best democratic exercise taken place in the whole world. Tripura's tea industry ailing due to dry spell

Tripura, May 18 (ANI): Tea planters in Tripura fear a massive fall in leaf production as the prolonged dry spell can push the industry into a crisis situation. In large areas the bushes have become almost black in colour as the buds have started dying up due to the excessive temperature in spite of artificial irrigation. The workers complained that due to inadequate rainfall they were incurring losses as they were paid on daily basis and during the lean period they do not have much work or any extra income. Slow construction work of water pipelines upset Kashmir people

Srinagar, May 18 (ANI): Residents of Jammu and Kashmir remain unhappy with damaged water pipelines and roads in the capital city of Srinagar. Local residents faced inconvenience due to unfinished water pipeline work, due to which the water supply was affected in hotels and households. Over the past few years, the state government started construction work on roads, bridges, drainages and installation of water pipes in Srinagar. But some are still incomplete due to slow work and harsh weather conditions. Authorities in Roads and Buildings (R and B) department say heavy rains resulted in delay of completing works.
