Tripura, May 18 (ANI): Tea planters in Tripura fear a massive fall in leaf production as the prolonged dry spell can push the industry into a crisis situation. In large areas the bushes have become almost black in colour as the buds have started dying up due to the excessive temperature in spite of artificial irrigation. The workers complained that due to inadequate rainfall they were incurring losses as they were paid on daily basis and during the lean period they do not have much work or any extra income.
