Lucknow, June 23 (ANI): Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi took oath as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh on June 23 in the capital city of Lucknow. Qureshi was given the additional charge of UP Governor after BL Joshi resigned from the post on June 16 following a nudge from the NDA government to the six governors appointed by the UPA government. Camp Cola Society residents had agreed to let the BMC cut power, water and gas supplies in the Supreme Court-declared illegal apartments after meeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithiraj Chavan. Political leaders from the BJP and the MNS have extended their sympathies to the residents' demand. Srinagar, June 23 (ANI): Police arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief, Mohammad Yasin Malik in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday following a protest against the central government. Malik, had called for a shutdown in the valley to observe June 23 as 'Quit Kashmir Day'. Malik and some of his associates were arrested by police personnel as he was leading a protest march in Srinagar, while protesters shouted slogans for emancipation of Kashmir. New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): The members of All India Students Association (AISA) on Monday, while staging protest a protest in front of the HRD ministry over the Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP) in Delhi University were caught in a scuffle with the Delhi Police. The students demanded clarification regarding admissions under the programme which has lead to widespread difficulties due to the ongoing tiff between the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the University. Vyapam Scam: MP CM hits back at rival parties, says will file defamation

Bhopal/ New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said he is preparing to file defamation suit over allegations leveled by the opposition parties against his wife and his government pertaining to the Vyapam Scam. Earlier, Congress leader K. K. Mishra, who had leveled allegations of Union Minister Uma Bharti being involved, asked Chief Minister Chouhan to order a probe in the multi-crore Vyapam Scam and also alleged the involvement of a powerful person in this case. The recruitment scam had reportedly involved manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB). A Special Task Force has been constituted for an investigation into the Vyapam scam which had detained Laxmikant Sharma, a former state technical education minister, for interrogation.
