British law minister says India must open up its legal sector

New Delhi, Sept 02 (ANI): British law minister Shailesh Vara, who arrived in New Delhi for his three-day visit said India must open up its legal sector. The United Kingdom's Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State and Minister for the Courts and Legal Aid at the Ministry of Justice, Vara, will also be visiting Ahmedabad. His visit is the latest in a series of senior British government visitors to India to further strengthen the bilateral relationship with the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Interacting with mediapersons in New Delhi, he added the United Kingdom and India have very strong links on trade, education and legal front. Vara said with Modi's initiative to allow foreign companies to invest in India, overseas lawyers must also be allowed to practice in India. Opening up the legal sector, Vara added, would make India also known as the centre of excellence across the globe, which will have benefits and help attract the business.

Amit Shah accuses UDF and LDF in Kerala of vote bank politics

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 02 (ANI): BJP president Amit Shah, who visited Kerala in order to gain foothold in the state, blamed the dominant coalition fronts for pursuing vote bank politics, and promoting communalism. Kerala is one of the states where BJP is yet to display a strong electoral performance, and politics in the state is dominated by two political factions - United Democratic Front (UDF) led by Congress party and Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by Communist Party of India (Marxist). Shah was addressing special convention of party functionaries in Thiruvananthapuram city during his maiden visit to the state. He further elaborated on the point by saying that Kerala government had sought the release of Abdul Nazer Mahdani, who was detained in connection with the 2008 serial bomb blasts in Bangalore. Shah is hoping to promote the development model of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lure the voters in southern states.

Haj Committee in Rajasthan organises orientation camp for Muslim pilgrims

Ajmer, Sep 02 (ANI): A Haj Committee in Rajasthan organized a vaccination camp and an orientation programme for Muslim pilgrims to guide them on issues concerning the holy rituals at Mecca and Madina. The committee in Ajmer directed the pilgrims to fill up the Haj forms, advised them to keep photocopies of passports and also told them about the significance of the pilgrimage. Blood samples of pilgrims were collected and every kind of medical aid was taken into consideration. The pilgrims were satisfied with the initiative of the Haj Committee.
