Govt starts coal block allocation process

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): India's Coal Ministry on Wednesday began the process of allotment of mines to central and state public sector units, starting with the allotment of 36 coal blocks. Coal Secretary of India, Anil Swarup said the ministry has started the process of coal allocation. He said the ministry is to issue guidelines for these coal blocks and those firms which already have coal linkages will have to surrender them and once the linkages are surrendered then more coal will be made available to state-owned Coal India Limited. For schedule II (producing mines) and schedule III (blocks list) category, 23 blocks each will be put on offer. Around 167 bidders requested to visit the coal block site, he stated further. New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): An art exhibition on book 'The Seduction of Delhi' written by Indian diplomat-poet Abhay K was recently held at India International Centre in New Delhi. The poems in the book are based on Delhi monuments which were well illustrated by artistic drawings by Italian artist Tarshito. The drawings have been given a very special treatment by the use of the gold and laakh which highlights the monuments beautifully. The art work was very well received by the various visitors at the event. They were mesmerized by the display of the architecture in such a unique style. Police officials review security measures ahead of US President Obama's visit to Taj Mahal

Agra, Jan 21 (ANI): A meeting of top police officials was held in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday to discuss the security measures to be put in place ahead of the visit of US President Barack Obama. The city of historic Taj Mahal, Agra, is set to become a fortress ahead of Obama's visit on January 27. The Taj Mahal will be closed to visitors on that day. Multi-tier security arrangements are in place for US President's visit. Inspector General (IG), Agra, Sunil Gupta said that an in-depth meeting review of the security arrangements was conducted. IED blast in Imphal, no casualties reported

Imphal, Jan 21 (ANI): A low intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion occurred in Manipur on Wednesday. No casualties have been reported in the blast that took place inside a crematory complex in capital city, Imphal. An eye witness, Ibechaobi said that she was heading back home when they saw smoke rising. Police reached the spot and began investigation. According to reports, the extremist organizations have further appealed to the people of Manipur to safely remain indoors supporting a total shutdown of activities from 9 PM of January 25 to 6 PM of January 26.
