Jammu, Jan 24 (ANI): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mufti Mohammed Syed on Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir's betterment would be his only concern while indulging in negotiations for government formation in the state, adding that he will not trade the mandate given to his party by the people of the state. The PDP had recently rejected the National Conference's offer of support, and said that it is still involved in talks with the BJP on the issue of government formation. Governor's rule had been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir after the assembly elections in the state threw a fractured verdict, with no party able to win the required number of seats to form the government. The news of the cancellation of the scheduled visit comes a day before Obama is to visit India as the guest of honour for the 66th republic day celebrations. Obama was to visit Agra with his wife Michelle on January 27. They were to visit the Taj Mahal and spend an hour before leaving for Washington DC. Police rescue 250 children in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 24 (ANI): Police on Saturday (January 24) rescued 250 children in Hyderabad who were forced to work as child labourers in industries. These children were rescued during a massive search operation carried out by the police in different locations of the city. Most of the children were from Bihar, aged between eight and 13 years. These children were brought to Hyderabad after paying an advance of rupees 5000 (USD 81.40) to rupees 10,000 (USD 162.80) to their parents. Child labour is getting common in India, where slavery ranges from bonded labour in quarries and kilns to domestic work and commercial sex exploitation. Shimla/ Rajouri, Jan 24 (ANI): Heavy snowfall in northern India blocked roads, snapped electricity lines and disrupted normal life. Rooftops and roads in Narkanda area of Shimla city in Himachal Pradesh were covered in snow. Temperatures dropped to subzero levels and even the water in the pipelines was frozen. The roads became dangerous to drive or walk on as a layer of ice had formed on them. Residents also complained that heavy snow damaged their roofs. Meanwhile, residents in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir were forced to stay indoors due to plummeting temperatures and blocked roads.
