Bangalore Rape Case: New Commissioner meets parents while BJP stage protest

Bangalore, July 22 (ANI): Bangalore’s new Commissioner MN Reddi, who took charge replacing Raghavendra Auradkar met the delegation of parents and authorities of Vibgyor High School over the case of a six-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped on July 02. The school has been shut since July 17. Reddi said that the parents are given assurance and are asked to send back their children to the school. Meanwhile, BJP workers staged a massive protest over the rape of the minor girl. Former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Karnataka BJP Chief Prahlad Joshi and other BJP leaders also joined the protest against the horrendous incident. Jul 22, 2014

BSF foils infiltration bid along International Border in Kathua, intruder killed

Kathua, July 22 (ANI): BSF foiled an infiltration bid and killed an intruder along the International Border (IB) in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Jawans of the 68 Battalion of BSF challenged and opened fire on the infiltrators, killing one of them on the spot. BSF troops launched a search operation and recovered body of an unarmed intruder. This is the second infiltration attempt along the IB in less than a week. On Thursday night, the BSF had thwarted an intrusion bid in Suchetgarh sector of Jammu district. Jul 22, 2014

Incessant rains cause flood, submerge Moradabad

Moradabad, July 22 (ANI): Incessant rains have caused floods in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, drowning nearby villages. Last week also, after the district experienced rainfall for hours, around 25 villages were submerged in the flood waters. While cooking food on a rooftop, a resident, Sushma, said on Tuesday this is the only place in her house where the water has not reached yet. An officer of Central Water Commission, Manoj Kumar, said flood danger further persists as the water level of Ramgana river, which flows through the city, is five centimeters below danger level but is likely to go up. BJP seeks probe against former PM after allegations of judicial corruption

New Delhi/ Chennai, July 22 (ANI): India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday (July 22) sought a probe against former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after allegations of judicial corruption by a former judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Markandey Katju. Katju alleged that the previous Manmohan Singh government extended the tenure of a corrupt additional judge of the Madras High Court to stay in power after its key ally DMK from Tamil Nadu threatened to pull out.
