Maoist attack in Gaya kills two security personnel

Gaya, Feb 25 (ANI): Maoists blew up a vehicle carrying India's paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, killing two and injuring 10 others, in Gaya district of Bihar. Commandos of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA), a CRPF unit trained to tackle Maoist issue, were returning to their base after conducting a search operation. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. According to media reports, the Maoists also fired at the personnel after the blast. Maoists seek the violent overthrow of the Indian state but have so far not managed to spread significantly into urban areas. Central government gives higher share to states in central taxes

New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has stated that the recommendations by the 14th Finance Commission were accepted and raised the share of states in central taxes from 32 percent to 42 percent. This is the single largest increase ever recommended giving more power to states in determining how they spend this money. Jaitley said that each recommendation would be implemented for five years. He also urged states to be self sufficient and stop looking at the central government.
