AAP meets EC over fake votes in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday met the Election Commission over fake votes in Delhi prior to the Assembly elections in the state. Kejriwal said that a huge number of fake votes have been made in Delhi prior to elections, from Delhi as well as other states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. He added that he has filed a complaint with the Election Commission in the matter along with some verified samples. Further he said that some genuine votes were also deleted from the voter list and the EC assured of proper investigation in the matter. Jan 6, 2015

India lauds Bangladesh security forces for acting against militants

Agartala, Jan 06 (ANI): A top police official in Tripura lauded the efforts of Bangladesh security forces in cracking down on militants operating in the country's northeastern region. Most of the rebels battling Indian security forces in the northeast have set up bases in neighbouring Bangladesh. Director General of Police (DGP) of Tripura, K Nagraj, said the state succeeded in neutralising several militant outfits due to cooperation from Bangladesh. Nagraj said Bangladeshi security forces have destroyed several camps of the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition. Worker unions of Coal India Limited go on five-day strike

Dhanbad, Jan 06 (ANI): Five worker unions of state-owned Coal India Limited sat on a five-day strike, beginning from Tuesday, against the government's plan to allow private companies mine and sell coal. Workers shouted anti-government slogans. An official of Bharat Coking Coal Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, Shiv Ram Vasundhar, said the strike would ultimately affect the common man. Congress and BJP react as Delhi Police says Sunanda Pushkar was murdered

New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): Congress and BJP on Tuesday react as Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi confirmed that Sunanda Pushkar was murdered. A case of murder under Section 302 of IPC has been registered against unknown people. Bassi said that it is not a case of natural death and that medical report states that she was poisoned. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the police should carry on a fair investigation in the case and also questioned on such a delay in filing the FIR in the case. BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said that there is nothing to politicize the issue and said that Delhi police will see that the accused are brought to book. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy also welcomed the finding and said that Congress leader and Pushkar's husband Shashi Tharoor will be brought to book even as he alleged that Tharoor was involved in the murder. Always knew it was case of murder: Sunanda Pushkar's Cousin demanding justice

Jammu, Jan 06 (ANI): After Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi confirmed that Sunanda Pushkar's death was not natural and that she was poisoned, he cousin Ashok Kumar said that they always knew that it was a case of murder. He said that the delay in the case was because Congress government never allowed a fair probe to be carried out in the case. Sunanda Pushkar death case: Medical report says she was poisoned, murder case registered

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): A medical report on Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar's death case says that she was poisoned. Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said on Tuesday that the medical report submitted to the police says that her death was unnatural, due to poisoning. Bassi said that a murder case has been registered in the matter and proper investigation shall be conducted. He also said that the relevant witnesses have been examined earlier and they can be examined or enquired again if required. Camel fest in Rajasthan enthralls tourists

Bikaner, Jan 06 (ANI): Camel race in shimmering sand dunes of Rajasthan enthralled Indian and foreign tourists at the International Camel Festival. Camels, which are also known as the ship of the desert due to their ability to store water for several days, mesmerised the onlookers as they competed with each other with great vigour. The tourists, who arrived in Bikaner district of Rajasthan from western countries like Australia, Germany, Canada and England, were thrilled as they watched the race keenly and enjoyed every moment of it. Apart from camel race, camel dance, camel decoration competitions and camel wrestling, and several village sport events were also organised at the festival. A tourist from Germany, Gehash said he was delighted to witness the camel race. The tourists were fascinated as they saw beautifully decorated camels dance to traditional tunes at the festival, jointly organised by Rajasthan Tourism and Bikaner district administration. The grandson of Beant Singh, Ravneet Singh Bittu said that it was a welcome incident and demanded strict punishment for the guilty. Meanwhile, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the incident shows that anybody who commits a serious crime will not be spared.
