Opposition demands Govt to fight against SP & pass Lokpal Bill

New Delhi, Dec 17 (ANI): As the Lokpal Bill is to be debated in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday with Samajwadi Party continuously speaking against the same, opposition demanded government to fight against SP and pass the bill. BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned on Congress’ inclination to SP and said that if government can manage SP and run government for 9 years, why not now. Meanwhile, CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said that SP who is opposing the aforesaid bill, are acting against the country.

Match-fixing between Anna and Congress on Lokpal Bill: SP

New Delhi, Dec 17 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal on Tuesday said that there is a deal between anti graft crusader Anna Hazare and the Congress party on Lokpal bill. Agarwal was reacting over the letter written to anti graft crusader Anna Hazare by Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi promising that the party is committed to give the nation a strong Lokpal. Anna Hazare in turn has written a letter to the Congress Vice President thanking him for ensuring the passage of the bill.

Anna appreciates Rahuls fight against corruption, Congress expresses gratitude

New Delhi, Dec 17 (ANI): After Anna Hazare wrote a letter to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi thanking him for his commitment to get the Lokpal Bill passed, Congress leader Ajay Maken expresses gratitude for the same on behalf of the party. He said that Gandhi has been firm against corruption and the congress party had p[assed many bills against corruption. Maken also said that Gandhi replied back to Hazare saying the government was committed to the Bill and promised that that the bill will be passed. Rahul has been in constant touch with Parliamentary Affairs Minister and other ministers who are introducing the Lokpal bill in the Rajya Sabha.

Mis-handling Indian diplomats may hinder Indo-US relations, PM should infringe: Defence Analyst

New Delhi, Dec 17 (ANI): After India's deputy consul general in New York Devyani Khobragade was strip-searched and was kept in a cell with drug addicts following her arrest for alleged visa fraud in New York, Defence Expert Capt (Retd) Bharat Verma said that such mis-handling can ruin Indo-US relations. He said that such an action is not tolerable and that PM and the government of India should infringe and give a statement on the same. Verma also said that this is shameful and is bringing a bad name to India.

Bangladesh celebrates its 42nd Independence Day

Dhaka/Kolkata, Dec 17 (ANI): Bangladesh celebrated its 42nd independence day, after liberation war of 1971 with Pakistan. Thousands of Bangladeshis gathered at Dhaka’s a national memorial Suhrawardy Udyan, to celebrate the victory day organised by the Freedom fighters and members of the Gonojagoron Mancha or activists of People's Resurgence Platform. Former Advisor of the caretaker government, Sultana Kamal expressed her elation saying that the most important achievement for the people was that they breathe in a free country. India also commemorated the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the Bangladesh liberation war of 1971 and pledged to protect every inch of Indian land and territory.

Madhya Pradesh: Woman delivers 10 stillborn babies

Rewa, Dec 17 (ANI): In an extremely rare case, a woman hailing from Satna village in Madhya Pradesh delivered dectuplets but all stillborn. The woman, Anju Kushwaha was being taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital, 125 km away in neighbouring Rewa district, after she went into labour but she delivered nine stillborn babies on the way and one in the hospital. The doctor attending her case, earlier said that on first examination of the patient the pregnancy appeared as eight months old. However, later it was found out that Kushwaha was undergoing treatment for infertility. Earlier in October, Kushwaha suffered a miscarriage, doctor said.

Cabinet approved Anti Communal Violence Bill: Shinde

New Delhi, Dec 17 (ANI): The Cabinet has cleared the Anti Communal Violence Bill and is likely to be tabled in the current session of the Parliament. Titled 'Communal Violence (Prevention and Control) Act, 2013', has been opposed by several states and the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), sees it as an attempt to infringe on the constitutional rights of a state. However, Janata Dal-United JD (U) backed the bill, calling it in favour of humanity.

Abdul Quader Mollah's execution sparks protests in Pak

Pakistan, Dec 17 (ANI): As Pakistan Islamists rallied to condemn the execution of Bangladeshi Islamist leader Abdul Quader Mollah, country’s Interior Minister expressed grief and concern over the execution of war criminal and leader of Jamaat-e-Islami. Bangladesh executed Mollah on December 13 for war crimes he committed during the 1971 war of independence from Pakistan. About two hundred activists and supporters of Islamist group Jamaat-ud-Dawa and major Islamic party Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) staged protest outside press club in Pakistan’s commercial capital Karachi. The protests were also held in the garrison city of Rawalpindi and Lahore. The demonstrators held banners and placards. The protest leaders while addressing crowd said that Mollah was hanged because of his loyalty and solidarity with Pakistan in 1971. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan expressed grief and concern over the execution of Mollah.
