At least six killed in blasts near Kudankulam

Kudankulam, Nov 27 (ANI): Two powerful country-made bombs exploded in coastal village of Idinthakarai near Kudankulam nuclear power plant of Tamil Nadu killing at least 6 persons and critically injuring three others. The bombs were allegedly stocked by some villagers following a clash with another group. Three houses caved in due to the impact of the explosion. Police said that death toll could rise, as some of the people were feared to be trapped under the debris. Police and rescue teams reached the spot and rushed the injured to nearby hospital. According to reports, the blasts took place when bombs exploded accidentally while they were being assembled at a house in Idinthakarai village. A case has been filed against activist Udhayakumar, who fronted the lengthy local campaign against the Kudankulam plant. Nov 27, 2013

Puducherry, Nov 27 (ANI): All the accused in the Sankararaman murder case including Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati have been acquitted by the Puducherry principal and district sessions court on Wednesday. The trial ran for over nine years. The court acquitted all the accused saying the complainant failed to support the prosecution. Sankararaman, the manager of the Varadarajaperumal temple in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, was allegedly murdered on September 3, 2004, in the temple premises. Sankararaman had allegedly written several letters to publications claiming that the Kanchi mutt had deteriorated ever since Jayendra Saraswati had taken over.
