The degree college in Kangan was established in March 2011 to boost higher education in Ganderbal district, some 67 kms from Srinagar. Although the state govt. is doing its best to upgrade the health infrastructure in rural areas of Kashmir, but a lot more still needs to be done.

The construction of a new water filtration plant in Bumzoo area of Anantang district is in full swing. Although the state govt. is doing its best to upgrade the health infrastructure in rural areas but still a lot more needs to be done.

The Government has started many schemes for Gujjars and Bakkerawals but they exist only on paper. The boy’s high school Choora in Baramulla district was upgraded in 2012 under the centrally sponsored scheme (RAMSA).

AP assembly resolution doesnt affect state bifurcation process: Digvijay Singh

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): After Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Thursday rejected the Telangana bill, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said that the AP assembly resolution doesn’t affect the constitutional procedures needed for bifurcation of the state. He said that the bill, as it is a sensitive issue, was sent for the comments and not for votes. Singh further assured that the political parties opposing the bill have now given in writing their support to separate state formation.

Telangana bill rejected by AP Assembly, TRS says will not impact President or union govt

Hyderabad, Jan 30 (ANI): After Andhra Pradesh Assembly rejected the Telangana bill on Thursday, TRS MLA KT Rama Rao said that this will not impact either the President of India or the Union government. He said that irrespective of the ‘divided’ AP assembly’s decision, the bill will go to the centre and will be introduced in the Parliament. Rao also appealed the people of Telangana not to panic.

Sikhs protest against Rahul Gandhi's remark on 1984 riots, demand to name perpetrators

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): Delhi Sikh Gurudwara committee and Shiromani Akali Dal party members are holding a protest at the headquarters of Indian National Congress party at 24 Akbar Road. The protest is against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's comment over the 1984 Anti Sikh riots recently. Rahul, had in a television interview, refused to apologize for the anti-Sikh riots in which many had lost their lives. The protestors are demanding an apology from the Congress Vice President. SAD Leader Manjinder Sirsa said that as Gandhi has accepted some Congressmen were involved in '84 riots, he should reveal their names.

Cabinet to decide on raising LPG cylinder cap, BJP slams

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): The central government is likely to increase the number of subsidized LPG gas cylinders given to consumers from 9 to 12 after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the AICC meeting on January 17 that the present allocation was not enough to fulfill the needs of the people. The move is likely to benefit 10% of consumers. This proposition from Congress has earned criticism from other parties. Prakash Javadekar, BJP leader and MP of Rajya Sabha said the public is angered and up against the Congress with this proposition as their unlimited supply of LPG cylinders had been cut down to 6 by the Congress party itself..

Nation pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 66th death anniversary

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): The Nation on Thursday paid homage to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 66th death anniversary. Prominent leaders from various political parties and other dignitaries paid floral tributes at his Samadhi at Rajghat in the national capital. A series of functions are being organized throughout the country to mark the occasion. Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar. A lawyer by profession, Gandhi led the struggle for India's independence from British rule by following the path of non-violence. Ironically, Gandhi was shot dead by a Hindu fanatic, Nathuram Godse, at a prayer meeting in Delhi on January 30, 1948, less than a year after India became independent.

Dense fog disrupts normal life in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 30 (ANI): A heavy blanket of fog enveloped the national capital on Thursday morning, hitting air, rail and road services badly. According to the MeT department, the general visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport dropped to below 50 metre and because of poor visibility operations of more than dozen of flights were affected. Train services were also affected due to fog. Road traffic was equally chaotic as the motorists tried to navigate through the dense fog.
