Goa Police on search for Tarun Tejpal

New Delhi, Nov 29 (ANI): Tehelka sexual assault case accused Tarun Tejpal is nowhere to be found as Goa police reached his residence in Delhi on Friday. According to police sources, Tejpal's family is not cooperating with the Goa police and Tejpal's wife Geetan Batra has refused to reveal the whereabouts of her husband. A Seven member committee, comprising of investigating officers in the case left Tejpal's residence after 90 minutes of their arrival and are most probably looking at other possible locations where he could be found. The Goa Police late Thursday obtained a non-bailable warrant from a court against the accused journalist. Tejpal failed to meet his 3:00 PM deadline for Thursday to appear before them and thereafter appealed for time extension for the same, which was rejected by the investigating officers.

Abu Salem gets seven-year imprisonment in fake passport case

Hyderabad, Nov 28 (ANI): A special CBI court in Hyderabad has sentenced seven year rigorous imprisonment to underworld don, Abu Salem in fake passport case on Thursday. The gangster was found guilty under various sections of IPC for obtaining a passport under a fictitious name and address from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. While speaking to mediapersons after the judgement, public prosecutor, TV Ramana revealed that Salem was charged under criminal conspiracy, cheating by personation and forgery for purpose of cheating.

Pradeep Sharma files criminal defamation case against Madhu Kishwar

Ahmedabad, Nov 28 (ANI): Suspended Gujarat IAS officer Pradeep Sharma filed criminal defamation case against writer Madhu Kishwar over her controversial tweet, 'falsely' linking Sharma with the woman allegedly stalked by Gujarat government. Sharma had earlier dashed off a defamation notice which was supposed to be responded to within 48 hours. The court has scheduled the hearing for the same on 5th of December, as confirmed by the lawyer.

Tarun Tejpal Sexual Assault Case: Shoma Chaudhury tenders apology to NCW

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): The National Commission for Women has informed that former Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury has tendered an apology to the National Commission for Women (NCW) for alleged "lapses" in handling the sexual assault case against the magazine's former editor Tarun Tejpal. Chaudhury on Thursday met member in-charge of Goa Shamina Shafiq of the National Commission for Women (NCW) at its headquarters in New Delhi to explain in person her handling of the case.
