Ready for such incidents when you stand against big people: Yadav after ink attack on him

New Delhi, March 08 (ANI): An unknown man threw ink at AAP leader Yogendra Yadav on Saturday during a rally at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Yadav said that a man came on the stage and smeared ink on his face shouting nationalist slogans. He said that the intention behind the same was not known and avoided blaming anyone for the incident. The attacker has been taken to Parliament Street police station for questioning.

Women run for equal rights, mark spirit of International Women's Day

Thiruvananthapuram/ Patna, Mar 8 (ANI): Women in different parts of India marked the spirit of International Women's Day and came out of their houses to participate in marathon and walkathon. In a bid to aware people on equal rights for women, 1000 ladies in Patna on Saturday took part in the 'Run for Women Empowerment' marathon. A participant, Laxmi Rai, said the initiative was part of a drive aimed at changing the mindset of people in treating women. The event was first-of-its-kind in Bihar, informed organizers. Meanwhile, a walkathon was organised in Thiruvananthapuram, during which women walked for unity.

Chit fund investors stage protest in Siliguri, threaten to boycott polls

Siliguri, Mar 8 (ANI): Thousands of duped investors in Siliguri city of West Bengal took to streets protesting against chit fund companies in the state. People were protesting against fraudulent chit fund companies in the state and also threatened to boycott upcoming general elections, if action is not taken in this regard. Over two lakh investors from different parts of northern Bengal, who have invested 433 crore rupees, are demanding arrest of owners of all chit fund companies. Protesters alleged that they invested in companies after getting assurance from the state government, but now they are not taking any stringent actions. The Saradha Group went bust in April 2013, wiping out crores of rupees in deposits from mostly low-income Indians, miring West Bengal's government in scandal, and illustrating the risks faced by the millions who live outside the banking system.

Patna, Mar 8 (ANI): RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti on Saturday announced that she will contest on behalf of RJD from Pataliputra constituency. High drama within the party continued after Lalu Yadav announced that he will field Bharti instead of senior leader Ram Kripal Yadav from the Pataliputra constituency. Ram Kripal today announced that he has resigned from all party posts.

Kejriwal uses Chartered plane, Politicos react

New Delhi, March 08 (ANI): Arvind Kejriwal invited criticism after he used a chartered plane to fly to Jaipur and then took a Mercedes car form the airport sighting his 'simple thoughts' against luxury. NCP leader Tariq Anwar, said that Kejriwal is doing what he was against earlier and that Kejriwal's real face is coming to the forefront. BJP leader Nalin Kohli said that AAP has double standards and Kejriwal is not sure of his words himself. Meanwhile, CPI leader Atul Anjan said that this is the fabric of politics and Kejriwal may have used the plane when it would have required by his duties.

New Delhi, March 08 (ANI): After Ram Kripal Yadav resigned from all RJD posts on Saturday, JD (U) leader KC Tyagi said that such thoughtlessness and dynastic parties will suffer like RJD in the same way. He said that this is like a sinking ship which eventually will collapse. Asked whether Yadav will join JD (U), Tyagi said that the party has not spoken on the issue yet.

Upset RJD leader Ram Kripal Yadav quits all party posts

New Delhi, Mar 8 (ANI): Minutes after RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav restated that his daughter Misa Bharti will remain RJD's Lok Sabha polls candidate from Patliputra, an upset Ram Kripal Yadav resigned from all party posts. The disgruntled minister was denied a Lok Sabha ticket from the Patliputra constituency. Yadav however clarified that he has not yet resigned from the primary membership of the party.

D Purandeswari decided to join BJP over AP bifurcation

New Delhi, March 08 (ANI): Former Union minister Daggubati Purandeswari met BJP leader L K Advani and decided to join the BJP in protest against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The former minister had earlier, said that the situation was such that a painful decision has to be taken. Meanwhile, BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu, reacted to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's comment in which he had blamed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for the assassination of the father of the nation, Mahatama Gandhi. He also opined that both in Telangana and Seemandhra, BJP hopes to win a good number of seats in the 2014 national elections.

Kumar Vishwas accused of violation of model code of conduct in UP

Sultanpur, March 08 (ANI): AAP leader Kumar Vishwas was accused of violation of model code of conduct in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh when he rushed with family members of some labourers killed in an accident at a construction site. Reportedly while digging a pit, some labourers got stuck as the mud near the pit slipped towards the opening pulling the labourers along. Two bodies were recovered while two were reportedly still stuck when Vishwas reached the spot. Vishwas later joined the family members of the deceased and others to meet the district magistrate seeking immediate action. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate K Dhanlaxmi accused Kumar and his supporters of violation of model code of conduct.

Malaysia Airlines plane goes missing, Aviation experts says time passed a cause of concern

New Delhi, March 08 (ANI): Talking about a Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew lost contact with air traffic controllers early on Saturday en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, Aviation expert Harsh Vardhan said that the time gap or the time passed after the incident is a cause of concern. He said that the flight is such that it can not land at any unknown destination even in an emergency. Vardhan quoted the reasons for the disappearance as either a mechanical failure or rough weather or sabotage.

India dismisses Pak's education offer to expelled Kashmiri students

New Delhi, March 08 (ANI): India dismissed Pakistan's offer to Kashmiri students expelled by a university in Meerut for celebrating Pakistan's victory over India in a cricket match, that they could pursue their studies in that country. Foreign ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin responded to Pakistan saying that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others. Akbaruddin added that India proposed to Pakistan on March 04, a Skardu-Kargil bus service and multi-entry visas for people of Jammu and Kashmir to increase confidence building measures. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and other groups organised protests in Kashmir against sedition charges levelled on the students.
