LS Polls: Lalji Tandon says will leave seat for Modi but reluctant for Rajnath

Lucknow, March 10 (ANI): It seems BJP's blues over tickets for its top guns has deepened. Lucknow BJP MP Lalji Tandon said that he will not vacate his seat for anyone other than party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. According to reports, BJP President Rajnath Singh wants to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Lucknow seat.

Bangladesh economist appeals to punish Pak war criminals before locals for 1971 liberation war

Dhaka, March 10 (ANI): Bangladesh economist Mahbubul Mokaddem Akash said that before prosecuting local war criminals, Pakistani atrocity makers should be punished, who are accused of genocide during 1971 liberation war and were released under Simla Agreement in 1972. The Simla Agreement was inked between India and Pakistan in July 02, 1972, which paved the way "for a diplomatic recognition" of Bangladesh. While talking to a reporter in Dhaka, Akash demanded a quicker punishment for Pakistani war criminals so as to provide a slight benefit to the Bangladeshi nationals. Unrest erupted in January 2013 when the International Crime Tribunal (ICT) sentenced to death in absentia a leader of Jamaat.

Ethnic Dhimal community threatens not to cast vote in LS polls

The Dhimal community resides in Ketugaborjote village near Darjeeling district. They claim that they are facing economic problems and receive no support from the government. Many of them had to give up on education due to shortage of money and are working outside Bengal, some in Kerala and some in Delhi as daily labour. They are still recognized as Other Backward Classes (OBC). The people here have refused to wait unless they avail the ‘tribal’ status.

Hardcore Maoist leader surrenders before police in Odisha

Malkangiri, March 09 (ANI): Top female Maoist leader Debe Podiami alias Sandhya, surrendered before the police in Malkangiri district of Odisha. She surrendered before Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jaswant Jethwa and Malkangiri Superintendent of Police (SP) Akhileswar Singh. Sandhya had a bounty of 5,00,000 rupees (nearly USD 8164.73) on her head. Following her surrender, the police gave her 50, 000 rupees cash as a part of provincial government’s package. She will get compensations in accordance with provisions of surrender package of Odisha government for Maoists. The 30-year-old hardcore Maoist was the committee member of Malkangiri-Koraput border and member of outlawed CPI (Maoist) outfit.
