BSF seizes 40 packets of heroin along Indo-Pak border

Police to investigate Maoists attack in Chhattisgarh that killed 16

Raipur, Mar 12 (ANI): A preliminary investigation has been ordered into the Maoist attack on police in Chhattisgarh that killed 16 involved in a mine clearing operation on Tuesday. Maoist rebels ambushed police and killed 16 involved in a mine clearing operation near Tongpal in Sukma district, a remote part of Chhattisgarh. Two were left injured in the attack that comes a month ahead of the general elections.

Police arrest three Maoists in Jharkhand

Khunti, Mar 12 (ANI): Police arrested three Maoists in Khunti district of Jharkhand. The arrest took place after an encounter between police and members of rebel outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) in Murhu forests in the district. During the encounter, 25 rounds were fired by the police. The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khunti, Aneesh Gupta, said a commander of PLFI, Pradeep Karkatta who was behind many major Maoist incidents was also arrested.
