LS Polls: BSP to contest all 80 seats in UP

New Delhi, Mar 20 (ANI): BSP supremo Mayawati on Thursday said that her party will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh alone and will not form alliance with any major political formation. Mayawati also attacked the Congress and the BJP saying neither of the parties would be able to form government at the centre this time.

Student creates shoe that charges phone while walking

Nainital, Mar 20 (ANI): A student of class 12 in hill town of Nainital, Rajesh Adhikari, has created a shoe that can now even charge a mobile phone. This means that no matter where you are, wearing these shoes gives one a reason to get up and walk. Adhikari said that the idea of making such a waterproof charger struck when it snowed heavily in Nainital and many people, including him, had to suffer due to power shutdown in the city.

Mumbai Shakti Mills Gang rape case: Four accused found guilty

Mumbai, Mar 20 (ANI): A sessions court in Mumbai has convicted all the four accused in the Shakti Mill photojournalist gangrape case of August 22, 2013. The court has also convicted the four accused in another gangrape case of a telephone operator. The 23-year-old photojournalist was assaulted while she was on task at the abandoned factory. Another accused, who is a minor is tried in the juvenile court. A 362-page charge sheet was registered against four of the denounced in October. The guilty, all unemployed adolescent men inhabited a close-by slum.

Noted author Khushwant Singh passes away at the age of 99

New Delhi, Mar 20 (ANI): Noted writer and journalist Khushwant Singh died at the age of 99 on Thursday. Singh was one of India's best-known writers and columnists. Born on February 2 in Hadali, now in Pakistan's Punjab, he was the founder-editor of Yojana and editor of The Illustrated Weekly of India, the National Herald and the Hindustan Times. He wrote classics like "Train to Pakistan", "I Shall Not Hear the Nightingale" and "Delhi". Singh will be cremated in Lodhi Auditorium, Delhi at 4 PM on Thursday.

Spicejet crew committed a dangerous act while flying: Tariq Anwar

New Delhi, March 20 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar termed the manner in which the crew of Spicejet risked the lives of passengers as grave. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a show cause notice to Spice jet, asking why its license should not be suspended, after a video showed cabin crew on a Goa - Bangalore flight dancing in the aisles. The video went viral on social media.

Australia says satellites spot objects possibly from Malaysian Plane

Sydney, March 20 (ANI): Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced that two objects have been spotted that could possibly be related to the missing Malaysia Airlines plane. Australian vessels have been scouring the southern Indian Ocean, searching for any trace of the missing Malaysia airlines aircraft. Finally, 13 days after the aircraft vanished, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that a satellite has spotted something floating around this area. An Orion aircraft has been sent to the area to try to locate the objects. Flight MH370 was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it lost contact with air traffic controllers.

Advani refuses to accept BJP nomination from Gandhinagar, Congress react

Aviation expert on DGCA notice to spice jet for midair Holi dance

New Delhi, March 20 (ANI): The directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) issued a show-cause notice to SpiceJet, asking why its license should not be suspended, after a video of the cabin crew on a Goa-Bangalore flight dancing in the aisles went viral on social media. Eight flights operated by the airline on March 17 had cabin crew performing a dance sequence mid-air to celebrate Holi. Reacting over this aviation expert Harshvardhan said that while dancing in the flight was not a violation, the pilot coming out of the cockpit certainly was as in case of an emergency his presence would have been required inside. Many airlines have such performances.
