Politicos react to Sharad Pawar's 'mental hospital' remark on Modi

Nagpur/Lucknow/Mumbai/Ahmedabad, Mar 31 (ANI): Politicians from the Congress and BJP react to the statement made by NCP Chief Sharad Pawar wherein he said that Modi should be 'treated at mental hospital for talking rubbish'. BJP leader Nitin Gadkari said that such foul language should not be used but considering the seniority of Pawar he should be forgiven. Further, party leader Vinod Tawde also condemned the statement. Meanwhile, Congress leaders Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Arjun Modhwadia condemned BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate for not using decent language during his speeches due to which such reactions emerge.

Politicos and Activists welcome NHRC's decision on Somnath Bharti

New Delhi/ Lucknow, March 31 (ANI): Politicos and Women activists on Monday welcomed NHRC's direction to the Delhi Police to take action against former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti for his midnight raid in Khirki Extension. BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the whole nation saw what Bharti did that day and in that context, it is a ruight decision. Congress leader Rita Bahuguna said that Bharti being a law minister did a shameful thing and the action is right by the board. Meanwhile, NFIW General Secretary Annie Raja that Bharti was violating rights of women from day one and this action against him was awaited. NCW member Shamina Shafiq said that this will send message that even politicians cannot get away by mishandling anyone.

SC commutes Bhullar's death sentence to life imprisonment

New Delhi, March 31 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday commuted the death sentence of Devinderpal Singh Bhullar, who was convicted for a 1993 blast in Delhi, to life imprisonment. The central government has earlier said that it has no objection on the same. The lawyer in the case said that the reason for the development is the delay in the case and also mental health of Bhullar. In January, the court had stopped Bhullar's execution and had sought a medical report on his mental health.

Musharraf's supporters demand his release to visit ailing mother in Pakistan

Karachi, March 31 (ANI): Dozens of supporters of former president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf staged protest in Karachi demanding his release to visit his sick mother in Sharjah hospital a day ahead of his appearance in a court in treason case. 95-year-old Zarin Musharraf, mother of the former military ruler, was admitted to the WW Wilson Hospital in Sharjah on Saturday. Musharraf has been summoned to a Special Court set up to try him in a treason case for imposing emergency in the country in 2007. Holding placards, the protesters chanted slogans supporting the former ruler. They held flags of Musharraf's All Pakistan Muslim League party who had organised the demonstration.

NHRC directs Delhi Police to take action against Somnath Bharti

New Delhi, March 31 (ANI): In what can invite more trouble for Arvind Kejriwal and AAP, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday directed the Delhi Police to take action against former Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti for leading a midnight raid in New Delhi's Khirki Extension. Activist-lawyer Shehzad Poonawala, who had petitioned against AAP leader Bharti in connection with the case, welcomed the move and said that it is now to witness if Kejriwal will apologize and will sack Bharti from the party or not.

Election commission ensures adequate security at critical polling booths

Bhopal, March 31 (ANI): Election commissioner of India, Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi informed that critical polling stations will be covered by one central paramilitary force adequately. Addressing a news conference in Bhopal, Zaidi divulged details of security on important polling booths. Steps have also been taken to ensure that the model code of conduct is strictly followed and funds are also not misused. Congress urges EC to take action against BJP for distorting facts in Masood case

New Delhi/ Ranchi, March 31 (ANI): AICC legal cell Secretary KC Mittal urged the Election Commission to take steps against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for violating the model code of conduct and for distorting facts in Imran Masood's case. A court in Uttar Pradesh remanded Congress leader Imran Masood, to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday after police arrested him for publicly threatening to murder BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The FIR accused Masood of violating the election code of conduct. A BJP delegation led by BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi approached the Election Commission demanding cancellation of Masood's candidature from Saharanpur.
