New Delhi, April 12 (ANI): BJP leader Nirmala Sitaraman on Saturday slammed the Congress Party and its leader Capt Amarinder Singh. Sitaraman questioned that Rahul Gandhi had created a huge buzz about Narendra Modi mentioning his wife's name in the nomination affidavit but will Congress also talk about Amarinder Singh not mentioning details of his wife's foreign bank accounts in his affidavit.

Sonia never let Manmohan work autonomously: Shahid Siddiqui

New Delhi, April 12 (ANI): Commenting on Prime Minster Manmohan Singh's former media adviser Sanjay Baru's memoir, former SP leader Shahid Siddiqui on Saturday said that Baru's memoir has confirmed that Congress President Sonia Gandhi did not let Singh work autonomously in the government. He added that in this case, all the power rested with Gandhi and all the responsibilities with Singh. Siddiqui also said that the Congress president is solely responsible for destroying the UPA government and the financial situation of the country.

Politicos react over Sanjaya Baru's controversial book

New Delhi/Noida, April 12 (ANI): Former Media Advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sanjaya Baru's book over Singh's accidental selection as a PM receives reactions from various political parties. Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said that Sanjay Baru is just trying to use the facts for commercial publicity of his book and Prime Minister's Office has already given its clarification over it. BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi remarked casually that there is nothing new in the fact that Prime Minister's post was with one person and power with another and everyone already knew it. Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh stated that only elected people should be given the post of a Prime Minister not the selected ones like Singh.

Amethi, April 12 (ANI): Preparations and celebrations are in full swing in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh as Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to file his nomination from here for the parliamentary election on Saturday. People were seen dancing to the tunes of drums and are all geared and ready to welcome Rahul. Sanjaya Baru's book confirms Manmohan Singh was weak PM: TSR Subramanian

New Delhi, April 12 (ANI): After the Prime Minister's Office denounced Former adviser to PM, Sanjaya Baru's memoir, Former Cabinet Secretary of Government of India TSR Subramanian said that Baru's book just confirms that Manmohan Singh was a weak PM. He said that there was nothing new in the book, just that an already known fact is now confirmed by an insider. The memoir claims that Singh had been "defanged" by the Congress in his second term, and he seemed to surrender to party Chief Sonia Gandhi. The PM's office had later said that "it is an attempt to misuse a privileged position and access to high office to gain credibility and to apparently exploit it for commercial gain. The commentary smacks of fiction and coloured views of a former adviser."

Moaist threat looms large as 2014 general elections are underway

Gadchiroli/ Khunti, April 12 (ANI): As India entered the fourth phase of general elections, threat of Maoists loomed large as the rebels carried out attacks in different places. In Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, a police official was killed and five others were injured in an ambush while the police team was returning after casting their votes. Similarly, Maoists carried out an attack in Khunti district of Jharkhand where AAP candidate Dayamani Barla, was attacked by members of rebel outfit People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), who also threatened to kill Barla and other party members if they continued with their election campaigning.

Azam Khan and Amit Shah's remarks cannot be compared: Naqvi

New Delhi, April 12 (ANI): BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday spoke over the decision of Election Commission banning Amit Shah and from addressing rallies. Where on one hand Naqvi considered Azam Khan's ban decision correct on the other he condemned the comparison of speeches by Azam Khan and Amit Shah. Naqvi stated that Khan had said something condemnable which tried to divide society but Shah's statements cannot be compared to Khan's. Naqvi further said that the BJP has appealed to EC to reconsider its decision about Shah.

EC bans public rallies by Azam Khan and Amit Shah

Lucknow/ Moradabad, April 12 (ANI): Election Commission (EC) of India banned SP leader Azam Khan and BJP General Secretary Amit Shah from addressing any public rallies after they made "highly inflammatory speeches" during election campaigns. Country's independent election body also ordered the authorities to register FIR against the two politicians and initiate criminal proceedings. Commenting on the notice issued to him, Khan said he exercised his freedom to speech. Meanwhile, SP leader Rajendra Chaudhary called the Commission's decision as unfortunate and said comparison cannot be made between the two leaders.

LS Polls 2014: Assam, Tripura, Sikkim and Goa begin voting

Goa/ Assam/ Tripura, April 12 (ANI): Voting in four states, namely Assam, Goa, Sikkim and Tripura began on Saturday, with voters casting ballots that would decide the fate of over 1.2 billion people. Polling began at 7am in four states for seven consituencies, namely three seats in Assam, two in Goa and one each in Sikkim and Tripura. Around 50 lakh voters will vote for 74 candidates in the four states. Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was amongst the early voters, pinned hopes on his party. In Goa, 19 candidates are in the fray for the North and South Goa constituencies, which will witness a single phased poll. While Assam has nearly 30 million eligible voters, Goa has over 1 million. Sikkim has a 362,326 electorate, of which 175,549 are women. As many as 1.13 million electorate are eligible to vote as 12 candidates battle it out for the Tripura East constituency.
