Congress will back GST if in opposition: Jairam Ramesh

New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said that if the Congress party is pushed into opposition after a general election, it would give its backing to a major tax reform it tried to bring during 10 years in office. Ramesh criticised BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for blocking the general services tax (GST), which is aimed at easing doing business, raising revenues and boosting growth. Meanwhile, he called Modi a fascist. He said that he always welcomed the dynamic personality of Atal Bihari Vajpayee but was very uncomfortable by Modi’s fascist vibes. Ramesh said that Rahul Gandhi was more focused on bringing reforms in the party where he has been working on multiple levels and not just campaigning for 2014 polls.

Narendra Modi behaving as if he is already PM: Sonia Gandhi

Faizabad, May 02 (ANI): While addressing a rally in Faizabad district of UP, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, slammed BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, saying he is talking as if he is already sitting on the throne. Gandhi said Modi was hungry for power and had forgotten that people of India will decide the results, not him.

Defeat Rahul to end dynastic politics: Kejriwal

Amethi, May 02 (ANI): Addressing a rally in Amethi, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, urged people to defeat ruling Congress party and end dynasty rule in order to weed out corruption from the country. There is a three-cornered contest in Amethi, as Rahul Gandhi will face Smriti Irani from BJP and Kumar Vishwas from Aam Aadmi AAP from the same constituency. Meanwhile, Kejriwal said BJP and Congress party were united due to which they were not attacking each other’s candidates.

SC reconstitutes SIT to probe into black money case

New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): Supreme Court directed the central government to appoint former Justice MB Shah as chairman of Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted to investigate cases of black money stashed in foreign banks. The court also asked the union government to furnish the list of unaccounted money holders. After remaining reluctant for almost three years, government revealed 18 names who have allegedly stashed money abroad.

Suspected Bodo militants kill at least 10 people in Assam

Assam, May 02 (ANI): Suspected Bodo militants killed at least10 people in two separate incidents in Kokrajhar and Baksa districts of Assam. In the first incident suspected Bodo militants entered a house and fired indiscriminately, killing three members of a family including two women and injuring an infant in the Baksa district on Thursday night. The severely injured infant was rushed to the nearby hospital as he suffered injuries from the bullet. In the Kokrajhar district, at least 7 people were gunned down by the suspected terrorists after they opened indiscriminate fire on the civilians.

Security beefed up at sensitive installations after Chennai train blasts

Coimbatore, May 02 (ANI): Police beefed up security at railway stations across India after two bomb blasts in Bangalore- Guwahti train in Chennai which killed one woman and left nine others injured. Paramilitary forces and dog squads were deployed at several stations, with the police scanning through belongings of almost all the passengers in Coimbatore city in Tamil Nadu. Police in the northern part of the country also issued an alert and railway stations were scrutinised. A team from the National Investigation Agency has joined the investigation in Chennai.
