New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Narendra Modi's maiden speech in Lok Sabha as Prime Minister drew mixed reactions from political leaders. Responding to President Pranab Mukhejee's address to the joint session of the Parliament on June 09, Modi on Wednesday said that his government will make all efforts to implement its agenda. Pitching for the need to project India's potential on a global stage, Modi said that the time has come for India to stand tall. Stating that the questions raised on the promises by his government are valid, Modi spelt out key mantras that will be followed in order to achieve growth and ensure poverty elimination.

New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his first Lok Sabha speech on Wednesday stressed upon the promotion of north-eastern states, especially Sikkim, in terms of organic productivity. Modi stated that north-east can play an important role in world organic market by manufacturing organic products. He also added that just like soil health cards are given to farmers in Gujarat, they can be given to farmers all over the nation so that they know their soil well and do not make any extra expenses. Modi also said that technology should be implemented in agriculture and research should be done on pulses.

Sushma Swaraj flags off Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Foreign minister, Sushma Swaraj, on Wednesday flagged off the annual Hindu pilgrimage, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, to the holy Lake Mansarovar in Tibet, the water of which is believed to cleanse all sins according to Hindus. Mansarovar Lake and the flanking Mount Kailash, which is the highest mountain in Tibet at 22,022 feet, are revered by Hindus as the abode of their god Shiva. Annually, pilgrims come from all over the subcontinent to take ceremonial baths in the lake water. The pilgrimage-route is considered prone to earthquakes and landslides.

Arun Jaitley says Lt Gen Suhag's appointment as Army Chief is final

New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday announced Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag's appointment as next Army Chief to be final. His statement came when senior Congress leader Anand Sharma raised the issue of tweet messages against Army Chief-designate Suhag by Gen (Retd) VK Singh.
