Kabul, June 17 (ANI): Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan Amar Sinha said that Afghans are happy with Narendra Modi as the prime minister of India and that the nation is looking forward to a cordial and peaceful relation. He said that President Hamid Karzai also had applauded India- Afghanistan relations and has a good vision of the relations between the two. Sinha also talked about attack on the Indian Consulate in Heart which also followed abduction of Indian national in the region after ten days. Sinha said that the person kidnapped is safe and that Afghanistan is working to get him released.

Raman Singh devises elaborate development plan for Maoist-hit Bastar District

Raipur, June 17 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh discussed an elaborate plan to develop and strengthen security in Maoist-hit Bastar District with senior officials. Singh said that road construction would speed up and every police station in the district would have solar power and better connectivity. Any development activity in Maoist infested areas is often met with strong opposition from the red rebels. They attack workers and destroy the work done.

India's Foreign Ministry assures assistance to stranded nationals in Iraq

New Delhi, June 17 (ANI): Foreign Ministry has assured assistance to stranded nationals who are stuck in Mosul and Tikrit overrun by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Foreign Ministry, spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin, said that an advisory has been issued on 15th June giving details of 24 hour helpline setup by the Indian Embassy in Baghdad for assistance of its nationals. Syed Akbaruddin added that the government of India is concerned about the deteriorating security situation and strongly condemns the attacks.

Fear of virus in litchi fruit hits sales in West Bengal

Siliguri, June 17 (ANI): Reports of continuous deaths due to consuming litchi fruit in West Bengal have hit the sales of the seasonal fruit. Six children were reported to have died in the province on June 07 after eating contaminated litchi. Many other children were being treated in hospitals. The fear of virus and pest in the food has perturbed the people and forced them to choose other fruits to appease their palate, leading to a loss in the litchi market. Several municipalities under the Darjeeling district government have banned sale of litchi as a precautionary measure to control the virus from spreading further. Another fruit vendor, Sunil Kumar, said rumours about insect in mangoes are also doing the rounds and added that vendors are incurring losses with the unsold fruits rotting in storage.
