It Happens: Crippled dog gets new lease on life

Kerala, June 20 (ANI): You've heard of man's best friend. Well this is the story of a dog's best friend. One day Shaleen Mathur came across this rust-colored pooch, whose back legs were maimed. When no one wanted the handicapped dog, the Kerala-based lawyer adopted him, determined to design a wheelchair so he could walk. Finally Mathur found a place that could craft a cart that would get the dog moving once again. But the devoted pet lover isn't done. He's hoping to improve upon the first design. There are millions of stray dogs on India's streets, many who become victims to road accidents. Happily this mutt is one of the lucky ones.

It Happens: Kashmir organises fair to draw youth towards agriculture

Srinagar, June 20 (ANI): Local authorities in India's northern Jammu and Kashmir state organised an agriculture fair to attract youth towards one of the oldest professions of the country. The fair was held to boost agriculture sector and make people aware of latest technologies in farming. The fair saw participation of farmers, agriculturists and people in large numbers. Farmers said the fair was helpful in providing knowledge but added it should be organised on grass-root levels too for greater reach. The agriculture sector forms the backbone of Kashmir's economy. Thousands of people depend upon farming for their livelihood.

Police arrest top militant Abu Hanzalla in Kashmir

Kulgam, June 20 (ANI): Police arrested a top militant on Friday from a hideout in Jammu and Kashmir state, said a senior officer. Acting on intelligence input, police launched a joint operation with army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to nab Abu Hanzalla, one of the commanders of Lashkar-e-Toiba, in Kulgam District. Hanzalla, who hails from Multan city of Pakistan, is involved in a series of killings. The militant from Punjab province of Pakistan was active in south Kashmir since past two years and was deputy of the most wanted LeT chief in Kashmir Abu Qasim.

Akhilesh presents Budget 2014-15, focus on development of state Part - 2

BJP condemns Maharashtra govt over Campa Cola society crisis, Congress defends

New Delhi/ Mumbai/ Nagpur, June 20 (ANI): In the row of Campa Cola society crisis in Mumbai, BJP leaders condemned the ruling Congress-NCP government in the state for not taking appropriate steps. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said that the government made laws to save the builders but did not do anything for the welfare of middle class people. BJP's Devendra Fadnavis said that Supreme Court's order had been misinterpreted but the state government could take quick action to save its people. New Delhi/Lucknow, June 20 (ANI): Defending Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Nihal Chand who has been issued a notice by a Jaipur court in a sexual assault case, BJP's Rajasthan unit said there was no question of his resignation as it was a conspiracy by Congress leaders.
