Congress stages a unique protest against BJP government over rising prices

Kanpur/ New Delhi, July 27 (ANI): Congress party staged a unique protest in an attempt to taunt ruling BJP government over rising inflation throughout the country on Sunday. The anguished protesters took to streets and raised anti-Narendra Modi and BJP government slogans condemning the soaring prices of vegetables and commodities. In an attempt to mock the BJP government, protesters held a unique protest showcasing a small market named as ‘Modi Bazaar’ displaying high price tags on a number of vegetables like tomatoes, capsicum and brinjals. Congress leader, Sriprakash Jaiswal condemned the price hike adding, that the anger and distress within people is likely to come down to streets. Hyderabad, July 27 (ANI): Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Venkaiah Naidu, on Sunday hit out at the Congress party that had accused that the Modi government pressurized the Speaker not to grant Leader of Opposition (LoP) post to it. Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi opined the main opposition party in the house must have at least 10 percent seats for the Leader of Opposition post. Congress has only 44 lawmakers in a 543-member lower house of the parliament. Congress leader Anand Sharma alleged that Attorney General (AG) and Speaker Sumitra Mahajan were working at the behest of the government. Teary-eyed families bid adieu to IAF officers killed in helicopter crash in Sitapur

Bareilly, July 27 (ANI): Sombre yet proud families of personnel, who died in an Indian Air Force helicopter crash, paid their last tribute to their loved ones. Seven persons, including two pilots were killed when an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed on Friday (July 25) in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. IAF officials, including Air Chief Arup Raha, and kin of the deceased gathered in Bareilly to present guard of honour and to pay last rites to three of the killed officials, Bhagat Singh, P Mukherjee and Manoj Yadav. Army recovers huge cache of arms and ammunitions from militant hideout in Kashmir

Baramulla, July 27 (ANI): Indian security forces busted a militant hideout in Kashmir's Baramulla district and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the area on Sunday. A joint operation was launched by a branch of Indian army, Rashtriya Rifles, and provincial police after intelligence inputs. During the raid, the security forces seized AK-47, two magazines which consist of 225 rounds, 19 rounds of heavy calibre, 13 UBGL round, one communication set, three Chinese grenade, two rockets, three detonators and various other ammunitions. Recovered arms and ammunition were destroyed soon after the seizure. The restive region has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency, and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades. Jul 27, 2014

At least six people killed as high-tension wire fell on bus

Auraiya, July 27 (ANI): At least six people were killed and others injured when a high-tension wire fell on a bus and it caught fire in Erwakatra area, police said. When the private bus was being reversed, it hit an electricity pole and the high-tension wire fell on it after which it caught fire. The bus was going from Chhibramau area of Kannauj district to Vidhuna district in Auraiya. The injured are admitted to the government hospitals nearby. Villagers gathered at the spot and started pelting stones on officials accusing the electricity department for lack of safety measures. Meanwhile, District Magistrate Mala Srivastava, CO Rajiv and Sub- Divisional Magistrate Ghanshyam reached the spot of the incident. Jul 27, 2014

Sikhs in Jammu protest against Saharanpur clashes in UP

Jammu/ Saharanpur, July 27 (ANI): Condemning violence in UP, Sikhs protesters in Jammu on Sunday took to streets terming Saharanpur communal clashes as a conspiracy against minorities. They protested against the violence that erupted in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh in which three people were killed and over 24 got injured when two groups clashed over a disputed land adjoining Sikh temple. Police have arrested 24 people who were reportedly involved in fuelling the violence. Meanwhile, Inspector General (IG) Meerut Zone, Alok Sharma said that things are under control and no fresh violence has been reported yet. Paramilitary forces were seen patrolling the street across the city. New Delhi, July 27 (ANI): In a fight between Delhi Transport Corporation and an ex-employee for 41 years over 5-paise loss, ex-employee Ranvir Singh filed a writ petition in a court. Singh who was a conductor, faced a flying squad of ticket-checkers in 1973 in a bus going towards Mayapuri. The overzealous checkers found that he had charged a woman passenger only 10 paise for a trip when the actual fare was 15 paise. Singh was later given the salary after the labour court ordered so, but was refrained from promotions and other dues and is also not getting pensions now that he has retired.
