New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): In what can be called as a temporary reprieve to Congress leader Ashok Chavan, the Delhi High Court on Monday put a stay on the Election Commission showcause notice sent to him after he was found guilty in the paid news case. The EC had issued a notice to Chavan asking him to explain why he should not be disqualified for not giving correct details of his 2009 poll expenses.

AAP Poster row: Somnath Bharti says Police acting under BJP govt, arrest unlawful

New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): Reacting on arrest of Four Aam Aadmi Party activists by Delhi Police who were pasting posters for defacing public property, party leader Somnath Bharti said that the police are acting under the BJP government and on their orders. Bharti said that the police never arrested Congress and BJP workers for putting up non-sensical and illogical posters and that they are working on behest of the central government. The AAP claimed that pasting posters was not a _crime_. Police said the AAP activists were found pasting the posters in south Delhi_s Malviya Nagar area on early Monday for the rally scheduled 3 August at Jantar Mantar.

Political leaders condemn attack on Northeast couple

New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday condemned the brutal attack on a couple from Northeast. According to reports, the couple was beaten by four men in Nathupur, Gurgaon. The attackers were armed with knives and started beating the couple. The husband received injuries on the head and is being treated at Nelekanth hospital in Gurgaon. His wife, too, has received several injuries.

Auto rickshaws go on a day long strike against Delhi Police

New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): A large number of auto rickshaws in New Delhi are observing a day long strike against the Delhi Police on Monday. The drivers alleged highhandedness of policemen and said that they are troubled as police officials ask for bribe, threatening the drivers to impose heavy fines unnecessarily. Vice President of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Rajendra Soni, said that the drivers are highly troubled by such bullying attitude of police. Soni further said that the general public will face difficulty due to the strike. He added that BJP’s Delhi President Satish Upadhyay has assured them of action against such offenses.

Gurgaon, July 28 (ANI): Private Detectives Association of India President Kunwar Vikram Singh on Monday said that bugging at Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's residence is a serious issue. He said that Private Detective Agencies (Regulation) Bill, which is pending in Rajya Sabha should be passed in order to stop such incidents. Singh also said that the regulation of the bill will stop bugging by the foreign detective agencies in India. He further advised that there should be de-bugging two times a day at such an important minister's residence and office.

Bangalore_s Vibgyor School reopens after outrage over six-year-old girl_s rape

Bangalore, July 28 (ANI): Parents expressed concern over safety of their children as Bangalore_s Vibgyor High School reopened on Monday after it was shut due to an alleged sexual assault on a six-year-old girl that had prompted protests for several days. The girl of first grade was assaulted by the school_s skating instructor Mustafa alias Munna, who has been arrested and was working in the school since 2011. On Monday, parents of many children watched their children entering the school premises as they were still concerned about the safety of their children. A parent, Raman Kaushik, said he would wait and see how quickly school implements safety measures. Meanwhile, another parent Renu Dutta said the incident had created chaos in their lives and hoped that everything would get back to normal soon.

Saharanpur Curfew to be relaxed after clashes, 38 arrested

Saharanpur, July 28 (ANI): Saharanpur District Magistrate Sandhya Tiwari on Monday said that the curfew will be relaxed after the clashes for particular period of time and also said that the situation is under control now. Meanwhile, SSP Rajesh Kumar Pandey said that there had been no untoward incident whatsoever during the night and that the police are on patrol continuously. 2014 Commonwealth Games: India still at fifth position with 22 medals tally

New Delhi, July 28 (ANI): India ended Day 4 of the 2014 Commonwealth Games at No. 5 in the standings. Shooters continued to lead India_s medal charge with Shreyasi Singh winning silver in the women_s double trap event. While Mohammed Asab clinched bronze medal in the men_s double trap event. Punam Yadav of India also won bronze in 63kg women_s weightlifting. Weightlifting brought India some more joy as Satish Sivalingam and Ravi Katulu won gold and silver in the 77kg category. Students in Tamil Nadu spread awareness for International Tiger Day

Coimbatore, July 28 (ANI): Students of a school in Tamil Nadu formed a human chain to observe International Tiger Day and create awareness among people of the nation about decline in the number of the striped beauties by drawing tigers on the floor with the help of coloured powder. Over 800 students of Sarvajana School in Coimbatore formed a human chain saying, _We Want Tigers_. The students also raised slogans to save tigers.
