Bangladesh's Gonojagoron Mancha protests, demand speedy trial of war criminals

Dhaka, June 07 (ANI): Bangladesh people's resurgence platform, Gonojagoron Mancha, took to streets in Dhaka as they demanded speedy trial of war criminals accused of genocide during 1971 liberation struggle and banning of the country's Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami. The activists of the Gonojagoron Mancha came out in droves and shouted slogans. Bangladesh social activist, Khushi Kabir, slammed the government for protecting the interest of the parties responsible for the genocide. Villagers in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh complained that sand from a natural lake in the area was being mined and at least 150-200 tractors worth of sand was being carted away from the area. Villagers also said no one has complained yet because they believe it to be a government property and they do not know whether the mining is illegal.
