Amarinder Singh counter argues Jaitley over 'Modi wave in Punjab'

Amritsar, April 25 (ANI): Congress leader from Amritsar Amarinder Singh counter argued his BJP counterpart Arun Jaitley over the presence of Modi wave in Punjab. Jaitley said that Narendra Modi's rallies in the state will confirm the chances of party's win in the state. Congress' manifesto promising Muslim quota invites mixed reactions

New Delhi/ Lucknow/ Kanpur, April 25 (ANI): The ruling Congress Party's additional manifesto promising OBC quota for Muslims has invited mixed reactions from various political and non-political leaders. Congress leader Meem Afzal clarified it as a promising fact of the party which will be fulfilled. Former SP leader Kamal Farooqui stated that Congress should have done it earlier during its tenure. Rajya Sabha MP Mohd Adeeb stated that he would support Congress if it succeeds in fulfilling this promise. Meanwhile, VHP leader Prakash Sharma attacked the Congress Party for using 'reservation' play card for its personal benefits. Lt. Governor announces compensation to Vasant Kunj slum residents

New Delhi, April 25 (ANI): Following a major fire in Vasant Kunj slum which burnt almost 1100 huts, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung visited the site and announced compensations to the aggrieved. He said that nearby SDMs should be deployed in the area and Jal Board to be alerted for more water in the region. He also announces establishing a kitchen and tents which will be up by the evening. Rajiv Gandhi assassination: SC refers case to Constitution Bench, Politicos welcome move

New Delhi, April 25 (ANI): Politicos welcome the Supreme Court's decision to refer the case of release of Rajiv Gandhi's assassins to a Constitution bench. The bench will decide whether the Centre or the Tamil Nadu government had the authority to release the seven convicts in the case after remission of their jail terms, within three months. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy welcoming the decision said that the convicts can get only one relief which they have got already. Giriraj Singh granted anticipatory bail in hate speech case

Patna, April 25 (ANI): BJP leader Giriraj Singh was granted anticipatory bail on Friday by a Patna court for his alleged hate speech during election campaign. Singh had ealrier said during an election meeting in Jharkhand's Deoghar district, that those who opposed Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan. BSF seize heroin at Indo-Pak border

Amritsar, April 25 (ANI): Security personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) seized heroin worth rupees 500 million, which was being smuggled along India-Pakistan border in Amritsar city of Punjab. The official added the smugglers took advantage of darkness and managed to escape. Drugs trade has been thriving in Punjab, which shares its international border with Pakistan. Massive Fire engulfs Vasant Kunj slum in Delhi

New Delhi, April 25 (ANI): A massive fire engulfed a large slum in Vasant Kunj area of South Delhi on Friday turning about 1100 huts to ashes. The raging inferno caught hold of the slum in not more than 30 minutes. More than 20 fire engines have been sent to put out the flames, said officials, who stressed that nobody is reported hurt so far. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
