Politicos welcome Pak PM's remark for better relations with India

New Delhi, Aug 11 (ANI): Political leaders across India welcomed Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's remark to better the relationship between the two neighbouring countries. Reportedly, Sharif, while addressing a conference in Islamabad, expressed his regret and dissatisfaction regarding the relationship of his country with its neighbours, especially India. Congress leader Rajeev Shukla welcomed Sharif's remark and said it was a positive development for the two countries. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said it was high time leaders of the two nations joined hands for a friendly relationship. Meanwhile, Defense Expert Praful Bakshi said he was surprised by this statement as it was not easy for a leader to make such remarks amid army personnel in Pakistan and said it was a good sign. Allahabad/ Raipur/ Rourkela/ Kolkata, Aug 11 (ANI): The government ordered five medallions, bringing names of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to the forefront to receive this year's Bharat Ratna awards. Another noted name in the Indian freedom movement, Madan Mohan Malviya is also rumoured to be one of the five persons to be honoured. Relatives of the speculated nominees have expressed happiness over the buzz. Malviya's grand daughter-in-law, Saraswati Malviya thanked the Narendra Modi-led government and said that the award should have been bestowed earlier. Coimbatore, Aug 11 (ANI): To show his love for his motherland, a goldsmith belonging to Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu designed the world's smallest flag made of gold. The goldsmith, UMT Raja said that he made the miniature version of the Indian flag using only 4 mg of gold, making it the smallest in the world. Besides the flag, Raja also made a miniature model depicting the Indian freedom movement using gold, which includes the Indian flag and a model of great freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi. Police arrest Maoist in Jharkhand

Latehar, Aug 11 (ANI): Police arrested a Maoist in Latehar district in the red corridor of Jharkhand. The Maoist, Mukesh Kumar Yadav, is the area commander of a rebel outfit, People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) and was arrested after police received secret information. Briefing media persons, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Rosan Gudiya said that it is big achievement for police as Yadav was booked under multiple cases of dacoity, killings and kidnappings. Police also seized a home made country pistol and two revolvers from Yadav. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s. Aug 11, 2014

Children stranded in swollen river in Uttarkashi rescued

Uttarkashi, Aug 11 (ANI): Police rescued a 10-year-old child who was swept away by the torrential flow of the river Assi Ganga in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The child was bathing in the river with his three friends when there was a sudden increase in the water level due to rain. While the three other children escaped, one child was carried away around 100 metres due to the strong currents. Man returning from guinea to India kept under observation for Ebola

Chennai, Aug 10 (ANI): A native of Tamil Nadu coming back from Guinea to Chennai has been kept under observation for Ebola virus, said a doctor on Sunday. The 26-year-old man from Theni district was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital immediately after he landed from the West African country. His blood sample has been sent to Pune for test and the man has been kept in isolation ward till then.
