Lalu shares dais with Nitish, says they are from same family

Hajipur, Aug 11 (ANI): Nearly two decades after they parted ways, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar shared dais in Hajipur on Monday as they began a joint campaign for the upcoming by-elections in Bihar. The coming together of two leaders also puts an end to weeks of speculations on whether the two bitter political rivals will actually share stage together at a public event to campaign jointly for the by-elections. Speaking at the function, Lalu said that he and Nitish are from the same family.

Legal Eagles react on CJI RM Lodha's defence of SC Collegium

New Delhi, Aug 11 (ANI): Legal eagles on Monday reacted over Chief Justice of India RM Lodha's defence of the Supreme Court collegium system and said that there is a campaign to defame the judiciary. Lodha's strong reaction comes after Justice Markandey Katju made allegations in his blog regarding the promotion of a judge of Allahabad High Court of questionable reputation. Former Delhi HC Judge Justice RS Sodhi said that if CJI has said something like that, there must be a weight to it, but also doubted on the credibility of the collegium in a few cases. Senior Lawyer Kamini Jaiswal said that Justice Katju should have brought these issues up during his tenure and the present scenario seems like a conspiracy.

Politicos react on PM's remark on WTO targeting UPA

New Delhi, Aug 11 (ANI): A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at UPA for allegedly "sacrificing the interest of poor people in the Bali deal", the Congress hit back at the BJP government saying that the UPA clinched the best deal for India at the Bali summit. Pakistan's ISI fuels sectarian violence in Gilgit

Gilgit Baltistan, Aug 11: Annexed from the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan has been controlled by Pakistan for decades now. Since the setting up of the de facto provincial government in Gilgit Baltistan in 2009, Islamabad's exploitation of the region has gained momentum. The strategically located region suffers from sectarian violence, militancy and poverty. In recent years, there has been a sudden rise in incidents of sectarian violence between Shias, Sunnis and other communities including Ismaili and Nurbakshi. The nationalist leaders blame Pakistan's spy agency, the ISI, for enforcing 'divide and rule' policy in the region.

Body found at Congress leader Kumari Selja's house

New Delhi, Aug 11 (ANI): A body of 42-year-old servant was found at Congress leader Kumari Selja's house in the national capital on Monday. The body is identified be of Sanjay, a daily wager. The police is investigating the case and probing the cause of death. A team of forensic experts have also reached the venue to investigate the incident. It is yet not clear whether the Congress leader was present in the house at the time of the incident. More details are awaited.

Pak violates ceasefire, 2 jawans and 2 civilians injured

Jammu, Aug 11 (ANI): In yet another violation of ceasefire by Pakistan, its troops resorted to unprovoked firing at several Indian positions on the international border in Jammu district in the wee hours of Monday. According to Police sources, two Border Security Force (BSF) troopers - Head Constable Sunil Kumar and Constable Bishnoi, along with two civilians- were injured when the Pakistani army resorted to unprovoked firing at four places in the RS Pura area of the international border early this morning. The BSF retaliated the Pakistan firing effectively.

Doctors confirm Guinea returned man unaffected with Ebola virus

Chennai, Aug 11 (ANI): Doctor discharged a Guinea returned native of Chennai in Tamil Nadu on finding him unaffected with Ebola virus. The 26-year-old Parthiban from Theni district was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi(RG) Government General Hospital immediately after he landed from the West African country. Regional Medical Officer at RG General Hospital Dr. Elango, confirmed that he has been allowed to return to his home town as the test results on his immunity showed no signs of infection. The Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Ministries of Home Affairs (immigration Department), External Affairs and Civil Aviation, is constantly tracking passengers arriving in India from the West African countries affected by Ebola.

Politicos welcome Pak PM's remark for better relations with India

New Delhi, Aug 11 (ANI): Political leaders across India welcomed Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's remark to better the relationship between the two neighbouring countries. Relatives of likely Bharat Ratna awardees react on speculations over same

Allahabad/ Raipur/ Rourkela/ Kolkata, Aug 11 (ANI): The government ordered five medallions, bringing names of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to the forefront to receive this year's Bharat Ratna awards. Another noted name in the Indian freedom movement, Madan Mohan Malviya is also rumoured to be one of the five persons to be honoured. Relatives of the speculated nominees have expressed happiness over the buzz. Malviya's grand daughter-in-law, Saraswati Malviya thanked the Narendra Modi-led government and said that the award should have been bestowed earlier.
