Indian wrestling team arrives in New Delhi after bagging medals in Asiad

New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): Indian wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Bajrang arrived in New Delhi on Saturday after bagging gold and silver medal respectively at the 17th Asian Games held in Incheon in South Korea. Dutt outshone Tajikistan's Zalimkhan Yusupov in the men's 65 kg freestyle wrestling match by 1-0, whereas Bajrang had to settle with a silver medal after losing the men's freestyle 61kg final match with 1-3 score to Iran. His compatriot Narsingh Pancham Yadav settled for a bronze in 74kg freestyle. Speaking to mediapersons, Dutt expressed his happiness over the win. Meanwhile, former wrestler and team’s coach, Satpal Singh lauded the sportspersons for bringing accolades to the country.

SCI launches first shipping service to Myanmar

Chennai, Oct 04 (ANI): India launched its first shipping service to Myanmar connecting both the countries under the concept of 'look east' policy to boost bilateral ties. The shipping corporation of India (SCI) and the ministry of shipping have launched a direct service to Myanmar for the first time with the help of foreign ministry and commerce ministry. The fortnightly service was flagged off at Krishnapatnam Port, one of the fastest growing ports on the East Coast of India, after it sailed from Chennai late Friday. Secretary, Ministry Of Shipping, Vishwapati Trivedi said beyond commercial trade it will strengthen trade relationship between both countries. Trivedi also said they were trying to sign up new agreement with Bangladesh in trade and it's under process considering various restrictions.

Mumbai/ New Delhi/ Chennai, Oct 04 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar defended decision of state-run television channel Doordarshan (DD) to broadcast speech of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat live on the occasion of Dussehra festival. Doordarshan for the first time carried Bhagwat address to the RSS members live on the 89th Foundation Day celebrations, where he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reacting on the same, CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat sought an apology from the I and B minister. Meanwhile, DMK leader TKS Elangovan said it could set a bad precedent. Congress leader Rashid Alvi criticised the move saying a group should not use a government channel to run its speech live.

Ganesh Venkatadri elated over mention of his suggestion in PM's AIR address

Mumbai, Oct 04 (ANI): Ganesh Venkatadri, whose name was mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his first on air radio address to the nation on Friday, felt elated and said his goal was attained while encourages youngsters to connect with their leader via social media. Modi went live on public service All India Radio (AIR) from New Delhi for about 20 minutes, in a pilot of a show he hoped would become a weekly opportunity to reach up to two-thirds of India's 1.2 billion people. At least 32 people killed and many other injured in Patna stampede, probe underway

Patna, Oct 04 (ANI): At least 32 people were killed and manyothers injured in a major stampede in Patna city of Bihar during celebrations of Dussehra. The incident took place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Eyewitness's said that chaos was created after an electric wire fell on the ground. According to reports, most of the deceased are women and children. The injured were immediately rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital. District Magistrate, Manish Verma confirmed the death toll and said that the injured were under treatment in the hospital. Meanwhile, locals blamed the absence of any lighting at the venue for the accident and also the police who they alleged had kept two of the four exits closed for the VIP movement. The state government has also announced ex-gratia of Rs. 3 lakh each for the next of kin of the dead.
