"IAF is not only known for its combat capabilities but also for its active role in humanitarian operations in times of crisis and disaster,' he added.

Three-day long Global Investors Summit kick starts in Indore

Indore, Oct 08 (ANI): Barely weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his 'Make in India' initiative, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated a three-day Global Investors Summit on Wednesday, inviting business leaders from across the world to invest in the state. More than 4,000 delegates from across the world are expected to attend the summit in Indore. The summit will also be host to 190 guests of honour and 28 state guests including ambassadors and country representatives. Addressing the gathering, Chouhan said through the summit he wants Madhya Pradesh to make an international mark.Day one was dedicated to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the state. Chouhan also declared that the state would establish a ministry exclusively for small enterprises. A venture fund will also be established to give financial help to innovators to set up businesses.

Bottle crusher machine installed at railway station in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Oct 08 (ANI): As a part of recently launched 'Clean India Mission', railway authorities in Gujarat introduced hi-tech plastic bottle crushers where the plastic can be recycled and used again. In a bid to keep railway stations clean and recycle used plastic bottles, railway authorities in Ahmedabad installed the bottle crusher machine at a station. A ward assistant of Western Railways, Atul Tripathi, said this was the first time in India that such an initiative was undertaken. If proven a success, it would be further taken to other cities. The eco-friendly initiative will generate employment and also benefit railways, economically.

R S Pura, Oct 08 (ANI): Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Dr Jitendra Singh on Wednesday visited the border areas which had come under heavy mortar shelling and firing by Pakistan rangers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh said that a meeting has been held with the senior officers of the BSF and people have been quite vindicated. He added that people are feeling quite confident after BSF's befitting reply to the Pakistan rangers. New Delhi, Oct 8 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said that the ministry is working towards bringing a service for the TV viewers wherein they can change the service providers without switching their set-top boxes. After chairing the first meeting of the Task Force for Cable Digitization for phases three and four, Javadekar said that the viewers should get the benefits of digitalization, with high quality picture at affordable prices. He added that the ministry is also mulling to exempt the Free to Air channels from the restrictions of 12-minutes ad-cap.

BSF DG says India retaliating strongly to ceasefire violations

Jammu, Oct 8 (ANI): Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) D K Pathak said on Wednesday that the Indian security forces have been retaliating very strongly to the ceasefire violations from across the border. Contingency plans ready to face cyclone, says Naveen Patnaik

Bhubaneshwar, Oct 8 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said that all preparations have been done to meet any eventuality arising out of the possible cyclonic storm hitting the state's coast, and added that contingency plans are in place to face the situation. Meanwhile, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Commander M K Yadav informed that his team is ready for any challenge that may arise if the state is hit by cyclone. According to reports from the Meteorological Department, the state government has been informed that Cyclone Hudhud is heading toward north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and is set to hit the coast by October 12. Under its influence, strong winds and heavy rains are likely to lash the areas along the south Odisha-Andhra coast.
