BSE closes points 127.92 up on Oct 28

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 127.92 points up to stand at 26,880.82. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 35.90 points up to stand at 8,027.60. NCC and KAILASH were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 11.84% and 11.76% along with MANAPPURAM and RANBAXY with an increase of 9.98% and 6.11% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include PMCFIN and JUSTDIAL with a decrease of 7.92% and 5.88% along with LAKSHMI MACHINE WORKS LTD. and BEML with a decrease of 5.35% and 3.09% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 59.39 points 17,942.43 while the banking sector is up 124.66 points at 19,073.55 and the reality sector is up 4.71 points at 1,437.00. The Indian currency is up 0.1% at Rs 61.36 per dollar.

Nithari Case: SC rejects Surinder Kolis plea for review of death sentence

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed Nithari Case convict Surinder Koli’s plea for review of death sentence. Lawyer Pinky Anand said that review petition was filed by the convict on the ground that his confession was under torture & not voluntary. She added that Court has found no merit thus stated his confessions were voluntary and dismissed the review petition.

The development paved way for him to take over as the new chief minister of Maharashtra. The decision on his appointment was taken at the BJP legislature party meeting on Tuesday in Mumbai.

Chhath Puja declared public holiday in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Delhi government declared a public holiday on Wednesday on account of Chhath Puja and also issued a notification in this regard. All the government offices will be shut tomorrow in Delhi unlike last year when it was a restricted holiday. BJP’s Delhi Unit President Satish Upadhyay said that he met chief secretary DM Spolia and demanded that a public holiday be declared on the occasion of Chhath Puja. He added that lakhs of Purvanchalis have been demanding that a holiday be declared on this day.

Will reply to LG if he invites for govt in Delhi, Sent notice to Kejriwal over false blames: BJP

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): BJP's Delhi unit President Satish Upadhyay said on Tuesday that if the party gets an invitation from the Lieutenant Governor for government formation in Delhi they will give reply at the right time. Further he said that BJP has sent a legal notice to AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal over false allegations made by him on BJP for horse trading. Kejriwal will have to give a legal reply to BJP's lawyer over the notice. Upadhyay also said that the violence in Trilokpuri has been effectively handled with the help of BJP workers and cooperation of police.

Need to bring FDI in road infrastructure, says Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Transport minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that there is a need to bring Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in road infrastructure to meet international standards. Addressing a meeting of state transport ministers in New Delhi, he said India must undertake the advanced road network development planning as have been adopted by many advanced countries. He also emphasized upon bringing in e-governance to have a corruption-free system and developing multi-modal transport system. He welcomed suggestions on bringing down the number of road accidents on state and national highways.

Fierce gun battle on between security forces and militants in Kashmir

Handwara, Oct 28 (ANI): A fierce gun battle broke out between security forces and militants in Handwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday (October 28). Three militants are suspected to be hiding in a village in the district. As per media reports, Indian army launched a joint search operation with the police on Monday night (October 27). The militants fired upon the security forces after which the forces retaliated, reports said. No casualties have been reported so far.

Burglars rob bank in Sonipat by digging tunnel, probe on

Sonipat, Oct 26 (ANI): Burglars robbed a bank in Sonipat after digging a tunnel, said a senior police officer on Tuesday. Robbers broke into the locker room of a branch of state-run Punjab National Bank by digging a 100-feet long tunnel from a nearby unoccupied decaying house. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Deshwal, said teams had been formed to investigate the crime after registering the First Information Report (FIR). Bank Manager, Devendra Malik said that the extent of loss cannot be estimated at present. Some of the bank customers were inconsolable, as they lost their precious ornaments and gems.

If left with little shame, BJP should hold fresh elections in Delhi: Kejriwal

Ghaziabad, Oct 28 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that if BJP is left with little shame, then it should dissolve the legislative assembly of Delhi and hold fresh elections. Kejriwal's statement came after the Supreme Court slammed the Central government as well as the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, for delay in taking decision regarding government formation in the national capital. He added that people in Delhi are troubled by electricity and water problems, which the AAP government had resolved during its rule. He further said that BJP is aware that it will fail to get mandate in the assembly elections and hence is running away from it.

SC informed about President's consent on Govt. formation by BJP in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar and Additional Solicitor General P S Narsimha on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court that President Pranab Mukherjee has given his consent to invite the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form a government in Delhi. Trivializing this development, Aam Aadmi party (AAP) leader and lawyer Prashant Bhushan said the BJP was just playing another game. The Congress and Aam Admi Party have condemned the invitation to the BJP as the single largest party to form the government.
