New Delhi/ Chennai, Feb 09 (ANI): A 22-year old law student was allegedly raped by her landlord for refusing to have a baby with him and beaten up in Meerut. Condemning reactions from social activists and political leaders flowed on Monday over the incident. Social activists Annie Raja, Sudha Ramalingam and Abha Singh condemned the law and order for such crimes which are taking place on daily basis in the country. Singapore President meets Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam met Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Monday. Yam arrived in national capital on Sunday on a four-day visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. President Yam, who is accompanied by his wife Mary Tan, will also inaugurate an exhibition, "The Peranakan World: Cross-Cultural Art from Singapore and the Malacca Straits" at the national museum in New Delhi. Presenting her views at the first meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, Raje suggested for allowing the states to prepare and implement various development projects as per the regional conditions and providing central funds for such schemes. Raje also suggested for setting-up an empowered-committee under the NITI Aayog for coordination and resolution of issues of various projects initiated by various ministries and state governments. Rohtak/ Faridabad, Feb 09 (ANI): Haryana police on Monday arrested eight accused in Rohtak and promised action in case of any lapse by its personnel. In a grim reminder of the December 16 gang-rape in Delhi, a 28-year-old mentally-challenged woman from Nepal was brutally raped and murdered and her body dumped in a field at a village on the Rohtak-Hisar Highway. Haryana DGP YP Singhal said that total of eight accused of the nine are arrested and that the police will try its best that accused get stringent punishment.
