A Facebook post by a young Kerala High Court lawyer has stirred a controversy on the social networking site by asking people to slap the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, over various issues his government has failed to address.
Harish Vasudevan Sreedevi (30), who is also an environmentalist, suddenly became popular on Facebook by asking "anyone" to slap Chandy "within the next 24 hours", as he also simultaneously came under attack from the chief minister's supporters.
"Is anyone ready to slap Kerala CM within next 24 hours and ask him 'who is this Janam (people)', knowing the repercussions. I am ready to face the punishment for incitement, Harish posted on his Facebook page on Sunday.
The post went viral within hours and has been liked by around 4,500 Facebook users, while nearly 1,400 people commented on it. The post even got shared by over 600 people till Monday afternoon.
As the post went viral, many supporters of the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) attacked the lawyer. However, there were many others who supported Harish for his guts to attack the chief minister. People used hashtag #IsupportHarishVasudevan to express their solidarity with him.
"Remember, he has a steel structure, once he was hit by granite rock on his chest, the stone repulsed breaking the side glass window of his car. So don't mess with Ommen Chandy," posted a user on Facebook.
