Narendra Modi to lay Sardar Patel statue foundation stone today

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): Narendra Modi will today inaugurate the construction of what he bills as the world's biggest statue, a 182-metre iron and bronze structure being built at a cost of Rs. 2074 crore to honour India's "iron man" Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 138th birth anniversary. BJP leader Captain Abhimanyu said that today is the landmark day in the history of the nation and 1.5 crore people are proud today as they are being able to commemorate the works of Mr. Sardar Patel. Hamid Ansari meets Cuban President on his visit to Havana

Havana, Oct 31 (ANI): Vice-President Hamid Ansari met Cuban President Raul Castro during his two-day state visit to the country, during which the two countries inked four agreements to strengthen bilateral ties. Ansari arrived in Cuba on October 29 to hold talks with the political leadership on bilateral and multilateral issues. The two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in broadcasting between India’s government run Prasar Bharti and Cuban Radio and Television Institute. Ansari, who held delegation level talks with Cuban leaders, also visited the Biotechnology Centre in Cuba and appreciated the "pioneering work" done by it and talked about the possibilities for collaboration between the two countries in the field. Kirti Azad on special scheme for minority brides in Karnataka

New Delhi, Oct 31(ANI): In a bold move, Karnataka government has launched a scheme that from November 1, Muslim brides from families with annual income less than Rs 1.5 lakh can claim financial support of Rs 50,000 either in cash, gold or house hold articles from the state government. Reacting to this BJP leader Kirti Azad said that everyone who need help should get privilege when it comes to financial and social help and vote bank politics should not be done with it. The project launched by the Department of Minority Welfare will give the bride a voice and set aside an initial sum of Rs 10 crore with the aim of supporting atleast 2,000 marriages by the end of this financial year. According to sources at the state directorate of minorities, the project was launched last Monday without any fanfare. Oct 31, 2013

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): Even as at least four people were killed in two separate incidents of violence in Muzaffarnagar district, Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar said that in order to save the country from this kind of violence all the people should come together and fight it. Three men were killed as mobs from Hussain Kalan village and neighbouring Mohammadpur village clashed on Mohammadpur Road, about 35 km from Muzaffarnagar, while in a separate clash one woman was killed. Reports suggest that a woman was killed when she along with her husband was attacked by a mob. The woman was killed on the spot, however her husband survived and is admitted in a Meerut hospital.
