Sleepless night for doctor couple after sentence of life imprisonment by Court

Ghaziabad, Nov 27 (ANI): Convicted dentist couple, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar spent a sleepless night in prison after a CBI special court sentenced them to life imprisonment on Tuesday for murdering their 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and a servant five years ago, thus concluding a sensational trial on which public opinion remains sharply divided. The CBI had sought death penalty for the couple. Superintendent of Dasna Jail, Vireshraj Sharma said on Wednesday (November 27) that the couple was being given psychological therapy. Nov 27, 2013

Kolkata, Nov 27 (ANI): CPI (M) leader Biman Bose on Wednesday demanded CBI inquiry into the Shardha chit fund scam, a day after a 36-minute video of Rajya Sabha MP and suspended Trinamool Congress member Kunal Ghosh put TMC in great embarrassment. In the video, Ghosh has directly linked chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool’s national general secretary Mukul Roy with the Saradha chit fund scam that has been rocking the state for the last eight months. Allahabad, Nov 27 (ANI): Stepping up its attack on Tehelka magazine editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday described rape of women as another form of terrorism. Tejpal, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a junior Tehelka colleague in a Goa hotel earlier this month, had on Monday filed a petition before the high court alleging that there was conspiracy behind the allegations of sexual assault, that the woman journalist was lying, and described the incident as a 'light hearted banter'. At least six killed in blasts near Kudankulam

Kudankulam, Nov 27 (ANI): Two powerful country-made bombs exploded in coastal village of Idinthakarai near Kudankulam nuclear power plant of Tamil Nadu killing at least 6 persons and critically injuring three others. The bombs were allegedly stocked by some villagers following a clash with another group. Three houses caved in due to the impact of the explosion. Police said that death toll could rise, as some of the people were feared to be trapped under the debris. Police and rescue teams reached the spot and rushed the injured to nearby hospital. According to reports, the blasts took place when bombs exploded accidentally while they were being assembled at a house in Idinthakarai village. A case has been filed against activist Udhayakumar, who fronted the lengthy local campaign against the Kudankulam plant. Nov 27, 2013

Muzaffarpur: Portion of rail over bridge falls on goods train, 6 injured

Muzaffarpur, Nov 27 (ANI): At least 6 people were injured when part of a flyover collapsed on a stationary goods train in Muzaffarpur town of Bihar on Wednesday. No casualties have however been reported. The incident happened in Maripur area of the town, 90 km from state capital Patna. The injured have been admitted to nearby Sadar Hospital. BJP hopes to sweep assembly elections in four of five states

New Delhi, Nov 27 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday hoped to sweep state assembly elections and defeat the Congress party in four of five states. The BJP also believes that they will form the central government in 2014 general elections. Voting is already over in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram. Rajasthan and Delhi will vote on December 01 and December 04, respectively. While addressing a news conference in New Delhi, BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that the results of the assembly elections would set the agenda for 2014 general elections.
