Venkaiah Naidu slams Congress, says party distributed & perturbed

Chennai, March 23 (ANI): BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu slammed Congress party and its Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, and said it wants to give power to one family only. Addressing a news conference in Chennai, Naidu took a dig at Gandhi, saying he talks about common man but ignored them during last sixty years. Naidu added that victory of BJP and its prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, was certain and that too with majority. Furthermore, Naidu dismissed reports of differences within the BJP and said that the party is united.

Pramod Muthalik's BJP membership cancelled within hours

New Delhi, March 23 (ANI): BJP Spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday confirmed that Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik's membership is cancelled after the central BJP instructed the same to the state party. She said that the party felt strongly about the same and therefore have taken this action. Earlier, party leader and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had also expressed objection over the decision. Muthalik had courted a huge controversy in 2009 after members of his Sri Ram Sene carried out an attack on a pub in Mangalore during which young women were dragged out. He had also carried out a campaign against the celebration of Valentine's Day.

Swami Swaroopanand complains against BJP's campaign slogan 'Har Har Modi'

Kolkata, March 23 (ANI): Dwarka Peeth Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati has raised objections against the use of BJP's Lok Sabha election campaign slogan 'Har Har Modi' in favor of its PM candidate Narendra Modi. The Dwarka seer has strongly condemned the replacement of 'Mahadev' with 'Modi' in the holy enchanting slogan, and thus, lodged a complaint against the unfavorable slogan with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Swami has further condemned BJP leaders for considering Modi even higher than God.

Pramod Muthalik joins BJP, politicos react

Maoist fear looms in Jharkhand ahead of LS Polls

Khunti, March 23 (ANI): Politicians in Maoist-infested Khunti district of Jharkhand expressed grave concerns as they face serious security threats from Maoists ahead of the general elections – a democratic exercise that the rebels despise. As per a report by the internal affairs ministry, Khunti has been ranked the topmost Maoist affected district in the country. Politicians said that as the mammoth exercise is just round the corner the people of the district are becoming increasingly scared of any Maoist activity. Meanwhile, the police said they are gearing up to put a fight against the insurgents and are getting support from higher authorities. Around 34 civilians and security officials were killed in Maoist attacks in Khunti last year.

BJP MP Harin Pathak expresses pain over denial of ticket

Ahmedabad, March 23 (ANI): Senior BJP leader Harin Pathak on Sunday expressed pain as he was denied party ticket for the upcoming general elections. Addressing a news conference in Ahmedabad, Pathak said that people who attacked BJP are now being inducted in the party. Harin Pathak, who has won elections for seven consecutive times as a member of BJP, was denied the ticket for Ahmedabad (East) parliamentary constituency in Gujarat in decision taken by the top party leadership on Saturday. Reportedly, Pathak has been replaced by Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal. Pathak is considered a loyalist of senior BJP leader, Lal Krishna Advani. Folk festival in Goa fills streets with dance, music and colours

Panjim, March 23 (ANI): Goa is celebrating its annual colourful street festival of folk songs and dance, ‘Shigmo Festival’ – a social carnival with a religious core. Maoists blast school building in Jharkhand

Giridih, Mar 23 (ANI): Maoists in Jharkhand blasted a school building on Saturday creating panic among locals ahead of upcoming general elections.
