Shivanand Tiwari praises AAP, set to campaign for party

New Delhi, March 25 (ANI): Expelled JD (U) Leader Shivanand Tiwari on Tuesday praised the Aam Aadmi Party and is all set to campaign for Arvind Kejriwal and AAP candidates Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar and Rajmohan Gandhi. He said that tha party is trying to bring positive changes and this has attracted people’s attention. He also praised Kejriwal’s commitment and will power.

Two Sikhs abducted in Pakistan returns home unharmed

Peshawar, March 25 (ANI): Two members of Pakistan’s Sikh community, who were kidnapped in northwest Pakistan last month, reached their home in Peshawar after being released by their abductors. The captives, Sawinder Singh and Anand Singh, were kidnapped by unknown assailants on February 11 from Dera Ismail Khan in Pakistan’s restive northwest belt adjoining the lawless tribal region. Sawinder Singh said that he and his cousin had gone to DI Khan in connection with their herbal medicine business when they were kidnapped at gunpoint by masked gunmen riding motorbikes. Singh said the kidnappers were 10 in number who told them that there were some complaints against them and they would only be released if their ‘Amir’ (chief) was satisfied with their statements.

Police arrests Maoist in Jharkhand

Simdega, March 25 (ANI): Acting on a tip-off, police arrested a Maoist, identified as Sanju Pradhan in Simdega district of Jharkhand. Police recovered four mobile phones from him. Superintendent of Police (SP) Aseem Vikrant said that the arrested Maoist was on task of recce for observing troop movement in the region. The hotbeds of Maoists in the state are under tight security blanket, as India, will hold its general election in nine stages staggered between April 7 and May 12. Maoists say they are fighting for the rights of poor farmers and landless labourers. Thousands have been killed in the insurgency since the late 1960s.

Jaswant Singh dares BJP to expel him

Barmer, March 25 (ANI): Rebel BJP Senior Leader Jaswant Singh dared the party to expel him after he filed his nomination papers for parliamentary polls as an independent candidate from Barmer in Rajasthan. Earlier, he had said that party Chief Rajnath Singh and Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, betrayed him. Singh will contest as an independent candidate since the BJP has chosen a Jat leader, Sonaram Choudhury, as its candidate from Barmer constituency. Earlier Singh had expressed his anger and unhappiness over the party’s decision and said he was not a piece of furniture that can be adjusted anywhere.

MJ Akbar takes U-turn over his remark on Narendra Modi, says Modi not responsible for 2002 riots

New Delhi, March 25 (ANI): Journalist MJ Akbar, who recently joined BJP ahead of the upcoming polls, took a U-turn on his remarks over party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, and the 2002 riots in Gujarat. Akbar said when something like riots take place, then one naturally raises some questions and being a journalist he did his job. Akbar also added that people should leave the past behind, move forward and concentrate on upcoming general elections and next 10 years.

Baichung Bhutia & RK Singh files nomination for 2014 general elections

Darjeeling/Arrah, March 25 (ANI): With just two days left for closing of nominations for fourth and fifth phase of general elections, former captain of national football team, Baichung Bhutia, and former home secretary RK Singh filed their nominations from West Bengal and Bihar respectively. In Darjeeling, Trinamool Congress (TMC) party nominee, Baichung Bhutia, received a rousing welcome from his fans and supporters who gathered in large numbers, as he arrived to file his nomination papers. Meanwhile, Singh also filed his nomination from Arrah Lok Sabha constituency for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar.
