Former TMC leader Asif Khan hospitalized after his arrest in alleged cheating case

Kolkata, Nov 07 (ANI): Former Trinamool Congress leader Asif Khan was admitted to a state run hospital in Kolkata after he was arrested for his alleged involvement in a cheating case. Khan complained of chest pain and other health related problems following which he was admitted to NRS hospital. His lawyer said that the case was falsely forged on him and is a part of political vengeance. Khan, who had lashed out at a section of the party leadership and accused them of being involved in the Saradha chit fund scam, was arrested from his residence at Tiljala in the eastern part of the city in connection with a cheating case in a land deal in the Rajarhat-New Town area. He was to be produced before the court on Friday but the same can take place only after he is released from the hospital. Nov 7, 2014

Ludhiana, Nov 07 (ANI): A major fire broke out in a timber store on the outskirts of industrial town of Ludhiana on Friday, but no casualty was caused, police said. The unit located on Ludhiana-Ferozepur road caught fire. The reason for the fire was not known immediately. Fire tenders were immediately pressed into service to bring the flames under control. According to the reports, he will most likely be inducted into the Narendra Modi cabinet as defence minister. BJP leader GVL Narsimha Rao, reacting over the reports said that, Manohar Parrikar is a very influential leader; however, final announcement over the issue is still awaited. India needs 'blue revolution', says Radha Mohan Singh

Kochi, Nov 07 (ANI): Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said that there is need for 'blue revolution' in the country for further development of aquaculture as an important agricultural activity without ruining the environment. Aquaculture refers to all forms of active culturing of aquatic animals and plants, occurring in marine, brackish, or fresh waters. Singh was speaking at the inauguration of two-day Global Agro Meet in Kerala. In July this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also called for 'blue revolution'. The international conference and exposition on value added agriculture and food processing, to promote agriculture and agro processing sector in the state, began in Kochi on Thursday. It was inaugurated by Singh in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The agro expo will be on for three days during which various products made of fruits and vegetables will also be kept on display. Kathua, Nov 07 (ANI): The district administration in Jammu and Kashmir organized a voter awareness camp in Kathua district recently to ensure maximum participation in the upcoming polls. The assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in five-phases, beginning on November 25 and ending on December 20. The counting of votes will take place on December 23. One of the participants, Kuldeep Kumar, said vote is our right and most of the people do not know the value of voting and may ignore the election process. The awareness camp was part of "Matdaan Mahotsav"– a two-month long campaign under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), aimed to launch various campaigns and activities at village level.
