Nitesh Rane stands firm on his tweet, says he wants to start cleaning up 'Marathi hating Gujjus'

Mumbai, Nov 06 (ANI): Congress MLA Nitesh Rane on Thursday stood firm on his tweet once again targeting Gujarati community residing in Mumbai. Congress leader Narayan Rane's son had tweeted, "Wanna take part in Swacha Bharat abhiyan and start from Mumbai!! Wanna start cleaning up all the Marathi hating gujjus from there once for all." Rane said that the Gujarati community post obligatory remarks against Marathis on twitter and terms them as downtrodden and second-hand citizens. He said that if Marathis cannot get their rights in their own state because of the Gujaratis residing there, the later should be sent away from Maharashtra.

Karnataka CM requests PM Modi to withdraw IT concessions given to Andhra

Bangalore, Nov 6 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the concessions the Centre has provided Andhra Pradesh for the information technology (IT) sector, stating that such allowances would cause an unhealthy competition between the two states. Siddaramaiah also stated that the state authorities were taking all possible steps to check the spate of incidents of rape and molestations, which have recently cropped up in schools of Karnataka.

New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): After Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh on Thursday hosted a lunch meeting for leaders of regional parties, RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said that the parties will bring all secular forces in the nation together to fight against BJP and Narendra Modi. He alleged that Modi took a U-turn on his promises made before coming to power. The meeting was attended by Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, JDU Chief Sharad Yadav, JDS Chief Deve Gowda and Indian National Lok Dal's Dushyant Chautala. According to sources, the meet has been called to discuss strategies of a possible united front in Parliament.

Country facing troubles, Modi govt should appoint a full time Defence Minister: Congress

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): The Congress on Thursday stated that it is the prerogative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi whom he wants to induct as Defence Minister in his Cabinet, while reacting on reports about a possible Union Cabinet reshuffle that may see Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar getting that portfolio. The party, however, emphasized that the country was facing problems in absence of a full time Defence Minister and therefore the government should give the responsibility to someone at the earliest. Presently Finance Minister Arun Jaitley holds the additional charge as Defence minister.

New rule for women boxers, doctor's certification in pregnancy test mandatory

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Nov 06 (ANI): A new rule has been imposed upon women boxers all over the world that they will have to carry the doctor's certification after undergoing a pregnancy test prior to participation in any boxing championship. The Vice President of Indian Orthopaedic Association, Tarlochan Singh said that this was already a mandatory practice apart from a certification from a doctor. He added that there was nothing discriminatory in the rule for India as the practice is applicable worldwide. Secretary of Sports Department, Ajit Saran said that the Indian sports federation cannot do anything about the rule as it has been applied by AIBA for all boxers. Secretary of Boxing India Jay Kowli said that there is no need to create an issue out of the rule because it is in the benefit of women boxers to prevent them of any injury if they are pregnant. Meanwhile, former athlete Sunita Godara said that in a sport like boxing pregnancy test being mandatory is a safe step and all sportspersons going through it is also a welcome step.

Politicos condemn Bihar CM's decision to appoint son-in-law as PA even as he resigns later

New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday condemned Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi for appointing his son-in-law as his personal assistant even after he resigned from the post later following the controversy. BJP leader Sambit Patra said that Bihar CM should give answer on his son-in-law's statement that he has had many benefits of the post of Manjhi. Party leader Kirti Azad also hit out at the Bihar chief minister. Congress leader Rashid Alvi also said that this is unfortunate and that politicians should stop doing such things which points finger on the political system as a whole.

Police detain youth for wearing t-shirt with ISIS logo

Dhanbad, Nov 06 (ANI): Police in Jharkhand detained a youth after his photos wearing a t-shirt with ISIS written on it emerged in a local daily. The boy was wearing a t-shirt that read 'ISIS Pakistan' during Ashoura procession on Tuesday (November 04) in Dhanbad city. As per media reports, the police have also detained the man who printed the t-shirt and relative who gave it to him. The boy claimed that he was preparing for a skit displaying resistance against the Islamic State and Pakistan. Officer in-charge of Dhanbad's Jharia police station, Vishnu Rajak, said they were investigating terror links in this matter. Last month, flags and banners of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) made their debut in Kashmir valley, weeks after al-Qaeda announced the formation of an Indian branch, aiming to rouse the world's third largest Muslim population into action.

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): The Congress on Thursday said that whether Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler would be given tickets for the upcoming Delhi polls depends on the decision taken by the party. Earlier, former chief minister Sheila Dikshit had said that Sikhs in Delhi had supported the Congress despite the leaders being accused of involvement in the 1984 riots and therefore they should be given a second chance. The riots had left over 3,000 of the community dead.

Devendra Fadnavis says Shiv Sena can join govt only after trust vote, Politicos react

New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday react as Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Shiv Sena can join the state government only after signing the trust vote. BJP's Sambit Patra said that the party is committed to work for welfare of the state and any proceedings are directed in the same route. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the fight in Maharashtra is not for ideology or anything but for seat and power. Fadnavis had said that cabinet expansion will take place only after his government proves its majority on the floor of the assembly. He added that the Sena ministers to be inducted in his team would be decided in New Delhi.
