Bangalore Police ensures safety of school children after six-year old's alleged rape

Bangalore, Nov 5 (ANI): Bangalore Police Commissioner M N Reddi on Wednesday said that all necessary steps of installing CCTV cameras to ensure security of the school children will be put in place as the institution will be reopening on Thursday. The decision was taken after a meeting with the school management committee, the parents association and Bangalore police. Earlier on October 29, a six-year-old was allegedly raped twice at the private school in Bangalore city. The girl was sexually assaulted by a school teacher on two occasions. Reportedly the accused is a 37-year-old faculty member, identified as Jaishankar, and teaches Hindi as a subject. Many parents still feel skeptical over the safety and security measures on the school premises for their children.

Supporters of Awami League take to street against Jamaat strike

Dhaka, Nov 5 (ANI): Supporters of Bangladesh ruling Awami League party took to street on Wednesday against the strike called by Jamaat-e-Islami. Jamaat had called a three-day strike to protest against the death sentence pronounced by the court for their party chief accused of committing war crimes. Awami League Party Leader Mofazzal Hossain Maya said that Bengali community has rejected the strike in support of the court’s decision. Bangladesh's Supreme Court on Monday upheld the death penalty for an Islamist leader over atrocities committed during the country's war of independence from Pakistan more than four decades ago. On Monday, Jamaat activists had smashed a dozen of vehicles in Gazipur, on the outskirts of the capital, Dhaka, where several crude bombs went off.

Fire breaks out in Andrews Ganj slum cluster

New Delhi, Nov 5 (ANI): A minor fire broke out at a slum cluster in Delhi's Andrews Ganj area on Wednesday evening after few cylinders exploded. The fireman said that around 100 slums were under fire, but the fire was controlled in an hour. He added that nobody is either injured or dead. The local residents complained that the fire brigade reached the spot late.

India, Russia ink deals on trade and energy in New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 05 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Russia's deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, on Wednesday signed deals on economic, trade technology and culture cooperation in New Delhi as both the leaders co-chaired the 20th India-Russia inter-governmental meeting. New Delhi 4th Most Dangerous City In World For Women On Public Transport: Survey

New Delhi, 05 Nov (ANI) : New Delhi has been named the fourth most dangerous city in the world for women travelling on public transport according to a new survey.The survey was carried out by Thomson Reuters Foundation and focused on sexual harassment on public transportation systems in the world's largest cities.Women were required to answer six questions relating to their safety: how safe they felt travelling alone at night; the risk of being verbally harassed by men; the risk of being groped or subjected to other forms of physical harassment; trust that other passengers would assist a woman being physically or verbally abused; and trust in authorities to investigate reports of sexual harassment or violence.

Mayawati lashes out at incumbent UP government ahead of polls

Lucknow, Nov 05 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati, on Wednesday (November 05) lashed out at the incumbent government of Uttar Pradesh for its dismal law and order situation and also sought imposition of President's rule in the state. Mayawati was speaking ahead of the Rajya Sabha (upper house of the parliament) polls for 10 seats, scheduled to be held in Uttar Pradesh on November 20. She also said the government of Samajwadi Party was introducing schemes only on paper to divert attention from its inadequacies.
