Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik conducts aerial survey of cyclone hit areas

Odisha, Oct 14 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik visited cyclone affected areas of worst hit Ganjam district on Monday. CM Patnaik conducted aerial survey of the cyclone hit areas- Gopalpur, Rangeilunda and Chhatrapu. Patnaik said the primary aim was to minimise loss of human lives and they had successfully managed to do so. Earlier, villagers blocked the official convoy of Patnaik who was on a visit to coastal areas of cyclone-hit Odisha to oversee relief work.

Ceasefire violation: Army is ready to face infiltrators and giving them befitting answers says Lt Ge

Rajouri, Oct 14 (ANI): After Pakistan troops yet again violated ceasefire at Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday wherein a BSF jawan has been injured, GOC of White Knight Corps Lt Gen DS Hooda said that the army is ready to face the infiltrators and are giving them befitting answers. He further said that a few infiltrators are present in the Rajouri district, who will be taken care of by the army. Hooda also said that apparently, winter snow will make the infiltrators divert themselves.

Coast guard rescues 18 sailors left stranded after Cyclone Phailin

Bhubaneswar, Oct 14 (ANI): The Indian coast guard rescued 18 sailors, who were left stranded after their merchant vessel went missing in the super-cyclone ‘Phailin’. A Panama-registered cargo ship carrying iron ore was reported to have sunk in rough seas off the coast of West Bengal, but the crew was rescued later by a Coast Guard aircraft. Speaking to a journalist in Bhubaneswar city, a Group Captain in the Indian Air Force (IAF), Basant. B. Pande, said on Monday (October 14) that the 18 sailors – 17 Chinese and one Indonesian – were safe.

Judicial enquiry not enough, time for strict action: Jyotiraditya on Ratangarh stampede

Jamaat-e-Islami a threat to Bangladesh

Dhaka, Oct 14 (ANI): Created in 1941 by Maulana Maududi, the Jamaat-e-Islami has a history of committing violence and promoting fundamentalism. The Jamaat, which stood against the independence of Bangladesh, collaborated with the Pakistani Army in its operations against Bengali nationalists, intellectuals and minority Hindus. After 42 years of independence, Bangladesh is still faced with acts of religious fundamentalism primarily perpetrated by the Jamaat-e-Islami. Although the Jammat has been deemed unconstitutional and banned from contesting general elections in 2014, it continues to mark its influence through violent means. The Jamaat in Bangladesh received a setback when Syed Haider Farooq Maudoodi, the son of the founder of the Jamaat-e-Islami, said that the religion-based party should not indulge in politics in Bangladesh as it had opposed the creation of the country out of what was then known as East Pakistan.
