TN assembly passes resolution demanding India fully boycott CHOGM

Chennai, Nov 13 (ANI): The Tamil Nadu Assembly in its special meeting adopted a resolution against the Centre's decision to participate in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting at Colombo. The resolution reiterated that India should totally boycott the Commonwealth Heads Summit which is to be held from November 13 to 17 and also the External Affairs Ministers' meeting. The resolution also emphasized that indirectly it meant that Sri Lanka had the support for indulging in acts of violence against the Tamils. It also said the assembly had urged the Centre to take steps to get Sri Lanka suspended from Commonwealth till it took action to ensure that Sri Lankan Tamils were given equal rights on par with Sinhalese and were able to live independently.

Scuffle between police and residents at Campa Cola compound

Mumbai, Nov 13 (ANI): The officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) entered Campa Cola Compound in Mumbai on Wednesday to resume demolition of illegal flats amid strong protest from hundreds of residents, who are trying hard to save their homes. The BMC demolition squad broke the main gate of the Campa Cola Compound and entered inside to carry out the eviction work.

Pak should respect India's sentiments for effective dialogue: Khurshid

Gurgaon, Nov 13 (ANI): Union Foreign Minister, Salman Khurshid has said that Pakistan should respect India's sentiments and sensitivities for effective dialogue and peaceful relations. Khurshid said this after responding to a journalist's question on Pakistan Prime Minister's Foreign Advisor Sartaj Aziz meeting a delegation of Kashmiri separatist leaders on November 10. Aziz is in New Delhi to participate in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and will also meet Khurshid. Khurshid said this on the sidelines of the ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) in Gurgaon. Meanwhile, commenting on Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh skipping the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM) to be held in Colombo, Khurshid said that the position India has taken is not of boycott.

Peace on border tops agenda in meeting between India and Pakistan

Gurgaon, Nov 13 (ANI): Union Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid met advisor to Pakistan Prime Minister on security and foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, on the sidelines of ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) as the two leaders discussed the need to maintain peace and tranquillity on the Kashmir border. While addressing mediapersons at the meeting, India's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Syed Akbaruddin said that New Delhi still calls for the 2003 ceasefire agreement to be honoured.
