Argentine Peso collapse will not affect rupee: Economic Affairs Secretary

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): India's economic affairs secretary, Arvind Mayaram, said on Monday in New Delhi that the falling value of the Argentine Peso was not casting any influence over the Indian rupee's movement, pertaining to strong economic fundamentals of the country. While talking to media persons in New Delhi, Mayaram said that the rupee has been the best since October, as far as emerging markets are concerned and that they were not overtly concerned about the currency.

21 die as boat capsizes off Port Blair, V Narayanasamy expresses disappointment

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office and Congress leader V Narayanasamy, said on Monday that the overcrowded boat carrying tourists that capsized off Andaman Islands, killing at least 21 people, did not had any lifeguards or life jackets to save the people on board. Narayanasamy said he would request Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to order an immediate inquiry into the matter and demanded punishment for the people at fault.
