New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): In an event to felicitate Customs officials on Monday to mark the International Customs Day in New Delhi, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, emphasized on the need for technology advancement in the Customs department. Chidambaram honoured the work of many Customs officials by presenting them with certificates. Chidambaram focused on the advancement of technology in this sector as it has almost become the driving force of the 21st century. Along with GST, Customs will become the second major tax revenue, as stated by Chidambaram. He emphasized that customs are essential as they aid legitimate trade and prevent illegitimate trade. It keeps a tap on gold smuggling.
