Women in Bhopal participate in car rally for safety and respect for women

Bhopal, March 16 (ANI): The Association of Convent Ex-students (ACES) organized a car rally in Bhopal for women for creating awareness about girl child education, safety and respect of woman in the country, on Sunday. Hundreds of women enthusiastically participated in the car rally in their decorated cars. It was notable that there were many ladies who have continuously participated in the event for the last 3 years. This is the sixth year the women's car rally is being held by the women's association. The goal behind the rally is to spread awareness about the importance of girl child education, safety and respect for women in India.

Colourful bikes ride through Delhi roads raising awareness about Cancer

New Delhi, March 16 (ANI): Cricketer Gautam Gambhir flagged off a colourful bike and cycle rickshaw rally in New Delhi, in a bid to raise awareness about Cancer on Sunday. Environmentalist Sunita Narain was also present while flagging off Mega Cycling Carnival 2014. The participants along with kids who were either cancer patients or survivors turned their bikes in to the carnival float, donned their best of wardrobes, and joined the fun of whizzing down the track. Defining the significance of the event, Gambhir said that more people should participate in such events that address social causes with a tinge of fun.

Tokyo, Mar 16 (ANI): Ryogoku is a center of Tokyo's history and culture, and home to Sumo wrestling. Near the Sumo stadium is located Edo-Tokyo Museum, which has preserved the urban history of Tokyo. Established in 1993, the museum building is modeled after an old storehouse in Kurazukuri style. The main attractions in the museum include life size replicas, and scale models of towns and buildings over the past 400 years. Visitors can literally experience the history of Tokyo by actually touching, feeling and walking over the Nihonbashi Bridge of the Edo period. They can also visit Nakamuraza theatre, where the Japanese traditional "Kabuki" is performed.

Hammer procession heralds beginning of Holi festivities in Allahabad

Allahabad, March 16 (ANI): Although 'Holi', the festival of colours, is celebrated with dance and spraying colours on each other across India, but in Allahabad, residents celebrated it in their unique manner by taking out a hammer procession in which the hammer is adorned like a groom along with a fan as its bride. Two people die of asphyxiation in fire accident in Thane

Thane, Mar 16 (ANI): Two people died and two others were injured on Sunday in a fire accident that occurred in a residential building, in the city of Thane in Maharashtra. Reportedly, two elderly people died due to asphyxiation in the fire which broke out in a residential building in Thane. It was learnt that the reason for the accident was short circuit.
