President's address to Parliament rehash of govt's election manifesto: CPI (M)

New Delhi, June 09 (ANI): The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Monday said that President Pranab Mukherjee's address to the joint session of Parliament is merely a rehash of the election manifesto presented by the incumbent government and not actually a blueprint. Addressing the Parliament, Mukherjee said that the new government would pursue a broad economic reform agenda focused on job creation through public and private investment that also makes containing inflation its top priority. Senior CPI (M) leader, Sitaram Yechury, said the statement was devoid of a blueprint to achieve the targets for the government in the coming year. Yechury urged the government to build a consensus among parties on the issues that were ticklish such as rehabilitation of local Hindu population in Kashmir and pilgrimage tourism. Jun 9, 2014

Twelve hardcore Maoists surrender in Odisha

Koraput, June 09 (ANI): Twelve rebels of a hardcore Maoist organisation, Communist Party of India (Maoist), surrendered before police in Koraput district of Odisha. The police said their case was being recommended for rehabilitation under the surrender policy of Odisha government. All the surrendered Maoists hailed from Narayanpatna area, which has been a Maoist stronghold. Police, meanwhile, have appealed all Maoists and their associates to shun violence or face stern action in the coming days. The water of the river suddenly increased following its release from the reservoir of 126 MW Larji hydropower project. Tripura, June 09 (ANI): Authorities in Tripura sent back 90 Bangladeshi tribals who entered India illegally, seeking refuge, after ethnic clashes with non-tribal Muslims in their homeland last week. The repatriation took place through Gandacherra in Dhalai district of Tripura in presence of Indian and Bangladeshi officials and border guards of both the nations. The tribal people mainly consisting of Buddhists and Hindus had fled their homeland and entered into Indian territory after some "miscreants" allegedly attacked their homes in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), a tribal- dominated area in southeast Bangladesh that borders India and Myanmar.
