DA case: Karnataka HC rejects Jayalalithaa's bail plea

Chennai, Oct 07 (ANI): The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday rejected former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa bail plea in connection with an 18-year-old disproportionate assets case, days after a trial court had sent her to four-years in prison. Earlier it was reported by various media that she had been given conditional bail based on the comment by the public prosecutor that he would not be opposed to it. In the morning, the Karnataka High Court had rejected advocate Ram Jethmalani's request for an early hearing of Jayalalithaa's bail plea, saying the hearing would take place according to the number allotted to the case. Meanwhile, AIADMK supporters protested outside Jayalalithaa's residence in Chennai.

This was the world competition for defining the top Yamaha service engineer with profound knowledge and technical skills. This competition has been held every two years since 2002. Twenty mechanics from 18 countries participated in the final contest this year. In 2001, Yamaha established YTA- Yamaha Technical Academy in the world wide service network as their main education program, and it is currently deployed in 36 countries with 33,000 YTA certified engineers have participated to the World Technician Grand Prix. The contestants were tested in theory, trouble shooting, repair on actual motorcycles and skill of making relationship with the customer during reception, vehicle delivery and after service. The contest was designed to judge the engineer's skill in the areas of proper service knowledge by providing service that communicates the ideas of Yamaha products and providing hospitable customer service.

Deepender Singh Hooda holds roadshow in Haryana ahead of state assembly polls

Sonipat, Oct 07 (ANI): Congress party leader Deepender Singh Hooda, held a roadshow on Tuesday in Haryana seeking votes ahead of state polls. Haryana would go to polls on October 15 in a single phase to select 90 members of the state legislative assembly. His father Bhupinder Singh Hooda is holding the office as chief minister of the state for a second term since 2009. Addressing the roadshow, Hooda said in the past six years, his government has done a lot for the state. The results for Haryana polls would be announced on October 19.

Political leaders condemn fresh ceasefire violations by Pak along LoC

Mumbai/ New Delhi, Oct 07 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday condemned continued ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan forces fired at 40 Indian army posts early on Tuesday, said a police official. Indian forces also retaliated with gunfire and mortar bombs. NCP leader Majid Memon hit out at Home Minister Rajnath Singh saying his words did not match action. Singh had earlier said that Pakistan needs to learn that the newly elected Indian government will take a more aggressive approach if it comes under attack on the border. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that this is Pakistan's desperation as they didn't get any response at the United Nations over the Kashmir issue. Twelve arrested for attempting suicide in protest of Narmada Dam project in Gujarat

Chhota Udaipur, Oct 07 (ANI): Police arrested twelve villagers as they attempted suicide by drowning in the canal in protest against the Narmada Dam project in Gujarat. The villagers, including a woman, from the Naswadi village in Chhota Udaipur district, jumped into a canal near the dam after their repeated appeals to the government were not met with. Many of these villagers lost their lands and sources of income to the project that took form in 1979, as part of an initiative to produce hydroelectricity and increase irrigation. Police officials said they managed to rescue all twelve villagers after they had jumped in protest. He added that they were given medical aid after they had been rescued. Around 42 families have been affected by this decades-long project which has been regularly dogged by protests. The Narmada dam, also called the Sardar Sarovar dam is one of the country's biggest dams.
