Social Activists await laws to ensure women safety two years post Delhi gang rape case

Lucknow/ Chennai, Dec 16 (ANI): India on Tuesday observed the second anniversary of brutal gang rape of 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist in a moving bus in New Delhi, a case that led to nationwide protests and forced authorities to tighten laws on sex crimes. Social Activist Sudha Ramalingam said all the steps taken so far have failed to make women feel safer. Faced with criticism over apathy and insensitivity to crimes against women, Delhi's 80,000-strong police force has also attempted a revamp of sorts. Meanwhile, Social Worker Aparna Yadav urged the politicians to aware the masses, especially women, of the Criminal Laws Amendment Act. Cold wave intensifies in northern, central India

Kanpur/ New Delhi/ Bhopal, Dec 16 (ANI): Cold wave conditions and foggy weather disrupted normal life in central and northern India on Tuesday. After New Delhi and Kanpur witnessed light rain showers, the temperature went down, adding to the woes of daily wage labourers and homeless people as they have no alternative to fight the chill. A resident of Kanpur, Kishan, said due to rains the cold has become unbearable. People of New Delhi also had a tough time dealing with the cold as mercury dipped to 10 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in Himachal Pradesh also plummeted as some regions of the state received snowfall. Reactions come in as TMC demands withdrawal of PM's control over CBI

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): Reactions come in after Trinamool Congress demanded in Lok Sabha that the CBI's control be withdrawn from the Prime Minister and handed over to the Lokpal. BJP Spokesperson Nalin Kohli said that TMC should rather demand that justice be done to those who lost their money in the scam. NCP leader Majid Memon said that CBI should try and clean its image of a 'caged parrot'.
