Rains halt relief and rescue operations in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 14 (ANI): The ongoing relief and rescue operations in the flood hit Srinagar were halted on Sunday due to rainfall. Light rainfall is also expected in the state on Monday. Earlier, choppers dropped relief material in flood affected areas of Rajouri district. So far, over 1,42,000 persons have been rescued by the armed forces and NDRF from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing rescue and relief operations in the flood ravaged state. The Afghan national along with two Indians have been arrested for allegedly smuggling in 31 kilograms of fine quality heroin concealed in raisin boxes which was to be sold in a famous dry fruits market in Delhi. Officials said a tip-off led sleuths of the Delhi zone of the NCB to a cold storage in Kundli in Haryana's Sonepat district. Officials said the raisins consignment, imported from Afghanistan, was destined to be delivered in the famous 'Khari Baoli' dry fruits market in Chandni Chowk area of New Delhi and the high quality heroin, sourced from the same country, was being sent under cover.
