BSE closes points 210.76 down on April 25

New Delhi, April 25 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 210.76 points down to stand at 22,665.45. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 62.05 points down to stand at 6,778.75. Strides Arco and Future Retail were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 13.09% and 7.68% along with UPL and Indiabulls Real Estate with an increase of 7.64% and 6.28% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Mangalore Refinery and MRF with a decrease of 6.88% and 6.44% along with Cairn India and Ambuja Cements with a decrease of 4.91% and 4.89% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 26.47 points at 13,605.69 while the banking sector is down 101.75 points at 14,910.30 and the realty sector is up 10.84 points at 1,474.13. The Indian currency is up 0.52% at Rs 60.75 per dollar. Apr 25, 2014

Cellphones bring 'reading revolution' in poor countries

New Delhi, April 25 (ANI): A new report has revealed that the spread of mobile technologies that have made books more accessible than ever before and thus bringing a “reading revolution.” According to UNESCO, 62 percent of those surveyed said they enjoy reading more after they started reading on mobile devices, and one-third said they use their phones to read to their children, an additional third said they would do so if more child-friendly books were available. According to the study, 60 percent of respondents cited a desire for more diverse reading options as the primary hurdle to reading on mobile devices, while only 18 percent cited cost. The UN estimates that around 6 billion people have access to mobile phones today and broadband mobile connections have seen tremendous growth in developing countries. Apr 25, 2014

Firozabad, April 25 (ANI): BJP on Friday demanded for re-elections in some areas of Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh after police baton charged BJP supporters allegedly protesting against booth capturing by regional Samajwadi Party workers. Uttar Pradesh BJP unit President Laxmikant Bajpai said that the party will go to the Election Commission to ask for re election in the constituency where polling machines were mishandled by the SP workers. Sydney, April 25 (ANI): A Virgin Australia plane VA41 landed at Bali airport on Friday after a suspected hijacking, officials said. The pilot of the Virgin Australia plane flying to the Indonesian holiday island of Bali reported a hijacking attempt after a drunk passenger tried to enter the cockpit. The man was handcuffed and put into a rear seat of the Boeing 737-800, which landed safely. US College offers course based on 'Theology of Harry Potter'

New Delhi, April 25 (ANI): A religion course based on the "Theology of Harry Potter" is now being offered by a private liberal arts college in Kentucky in order to assist students to develop an understanding of theological concepts such as God, sin, and theodicy. According to the course description, students at Centre College in Danville will have to read J.K. Rowling's 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,' 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'. Professor Lee Jefferson, who has taught a course before on comic-book heroes and religion told Centre College's news website that the Potter series is a phenomenon that has crossed generations and actually contains some intensely religious themes, and as a reader, he enjoyed them, and as a scholar, he could see their educational value.
