Rohtak gangrape and murder: Police inspects site, investigation underway

Rohtak, Feb 09 (ANI): Haryana Police is investigating the site of alleged gangrape and murder of a mentally challenged woman in Rohtak. DGP of Haryana, YP Singhal said that investigation of the case is underway and police will leave no stone unturned to nab the guilty. Shrines of Sufi saints and their spirituality at Urs of Ejmail in Rajouri attract all faiths

Rajouri, Feb 09 (ANI): Kashmir, besides being called as paradise on earth, also houses shrines of various Sufi saints. These saints have preached oneness on the soil of Jammu and Kashmir which is a mix of different religious faiths. Their spirituality and simple life attracted people of different faiths and they embraced their teachings, besides holding them in high regard. A similar example is seen at the Shrine of Ejmail in Rajouri of Jammu and Kashmir, where devotees pay obeisance to saint and seek his blessings. Thronging the shrine in thousands, the devotees hold the day-and-night-long prayers to pay homage to the saint, besides asking for fulfillment of their wishes. Rajnath Singh chairs meeting of four CMs of Naxal affected states

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): In order to give shape to fight back against the Naxals, Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of chief ministers of four Maoist-hit states in New Delhi on Monday. The Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Odisha attended the meeting today. According to reports the meeting stressed on better coordination among state and central paramilitary forces of the four states to plug loopholes and counter the rebels. Bikers rally to create awareness on Rhino poaching in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 09 (ANI): Motorcyclists rode through streets of Guwahati in Assam to create awareness about endangered one-horned rhinoceros, typical to the region in the country. The bike rally, organised by Royal Enfield and a club Rhino Riders, saw participation of 50 enthusiasts who wore T-shirts with messages, 'Rhinos will live', and waved flags. A participant from Rhino Riders, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, said that it was important for citizens to know about the rampant killings of the animal. The thick-skinned, one-horned Indian rhinoceros is one of the five surviving rhino species in the world. Feb 9, 2015

Singapore president receives ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam attended official welcome in New Delhi on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Yam walked along a red carpet and stood under a red canvas as a military band played the Singapore and national anthem. On his arrival at the presidential palace, he was welcomed by President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After brief pleasantries, Yam took the salute and inspected the guard of honour. Yam arrived in national capital on Sunday on a four-day-visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Need evidence to take action against black money account holders, centre taking rigorous steps: Jait

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday said that there is a need for evidence and that only revelation of names of the black money account holders is not enough to initiate legal action. The Centre has initiated tax-evasion proceedings against 60 Indian accounts that have allegedly parked black money in foreign accounts, Jaitley said. Jaitley further said the Centre has put in rigorous efforts towards digging black money during the last six to seven months. He said that most of the names revealed in the list today are known to the government. He said that the assessments of 350 account holders have been done and the rest will be completed by March 31. New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Amid deepening political crisis in Bihar, JD (U) expelled Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi from the party. Manjhi, who has refused to resign as Bihar Chief Minister to make way for Nitish Kumar, has been expelled by his the party. According to sources, Manjhi, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday and reportedly discussed the Bihar situation, was accused of anti-party activities. "I am the Chief Minister and I will be here till the legislature party decides otherwise," Manjhi had said on Sunday. Manjhi had also promised to step down if he failed to prove his majority. Pak violates ceasefire in R S Pura sector in J-K

Rs Pura Sector, Feb 09 (ANI): In yet another case of ceasefire violation, the Pakistani forces opened fire at ten border outposts in Jammu's RS Pura Sector on late Sunday night. In response to the unprovoked firing from Pakistan at 11:30 pm last night, the BSF troops retaliated to the firing. The latest ceasefire violation took place days after Pakistani forces on Thursday opened fire at a BSF outpost along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. Further details are awaited.
